The present invention provides multifunctional amphiphilic copolymers having the structure set out below: wherein w, x, y, and z are molar percentages, the sum of which equals 100%; wherein Rhas the formula &#x2014;(CHCHO)&#x2014;R, where Ris hydrogen or a C-Calkyl group; Rhas the formula &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;CH; Ris hydrogen or methyl; Rhas the formula &#x2014;(OCHCH)&#x2014;O&#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;CHor &#x2014;(OCHCH)&#x2014;O&#x2014;CH; and n is an integer ranging from 1 to about 10, a is an integer ranging from 1 to about 21, b is an integer ranging from 1 to about 23, and c is an integer ranging from 1 to about 21. The present invention also provides compositions comprising the multifunctional amphiphilic copolymers including spray drift control compositions including agricultural compositions, consumer compositions, industrial compositions, and mining compositions. The present invention also provides methods for preparing and using the multifunctional amphiphilic copolymers.

Functionally versatile amphiphilic copolymers

Optical imaging systems and methods are disclosed herein for investigating and analyzing one or more characteristics of a spray, including spray front velocity, spray sheet length, spray break-up dynamics, drift potential, and drop-size distribution. Optical imaging systems disclosed herein include an image acquisition device, one or more illumination source, a processor for processing and analyzing image data, a background, and a spray system that includes at least a nozzle. The image acquisition device and illumination sources are positioned on the same side of the spray. The processor has a first algorithm to generate a feedback correction factor and a second algorithm to identify droplets and develop a drop-size distribution for the spray. Optical imaging methods for determining spray characteristics are also disclosed and generally include the steps of providing an imaging system, capturing images of the spray with the imaging system, processing the images, and analyzing the images.

The invention provides lactamic polymers comprising an acetoacetate moiety. The lactamic polymers may be readily functionalized and the functionalized lactamic polymers may be further derivatized to provide a wide variety of useful polymers having desirable chemical and physical properties. This present application relates to microcapsules or compositions containing microcapsules wherein the microcapsules comprise a polymerizable lactamic copolymer. More particularly, certain aspects are directed to the use of polymerizable lactamic copolymers in the formation of coatings on microencapsulated particles. These polymerizable lactamic copolymers can result in surface modified microencapsulated particles that may be anionic, non-ionic, or cationic.

The present application relates to a visually perceivable image-forming dye scavenging article capable of absorbing and/or inhibiting transfer of fugitive dyes released during laundering, the article comprising (i) a support substrate with an imprint of an image on at least one surface of the substrate; (ii) at least one dye scavenging compound fixably adhered to the imprinted image; (iii) optionally, a film forming agent; (iv) optionally, a cross-linking agent; (v) optionally, a rheology modifying agent; and (vi) optionally, a catalyst to accelerate the polymerization reaction. Examples of hydrophobic monomers include N-vinyl caprolactam, vinyl acetate, vinyl esters, acrylated glycols, methacrylamide, C1 to C12 alkyl- and C1 to C12 dialkylacrylamide, C1 to C12 alkyl- and C1 to C12 dialkylmethacrylamide, C1 to C12 alkyl aery late, C1 to C12 alkyl methacrylate, 4-butyl phenyl maleimide, octyl acrylamide.

An inkjet-receptive article comprising a substrate having a coating thereon comprising a vinyl lactam polymer or copolymer and a polymer resin diluent coated from a solvent. A preferred vinyl lactam copolymer is polyvinylcaprolactam (PVCap)&#x2014;vinyl acetate (VA).
