The invention provides a cDNA which encodes a TUAN. It also provides for the use of the cDNA, fragments, complements, and variants thereof and of the encoded protein, portions thereof and antibodies thereto for diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory and cell proliferative disorders, in particular, Crohn's disease and colon cancer. The invention additionally provides expression vectors and host cells for the production of the protein and a transgenic model system.

Tumor-associated antigen

The present invention provides a human selenoprotein (HSEL) and polynucleotides which identify and encode HSEL. The invention also provides genetically engineered expression vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid sequences encoding HSEL and a method for producing HSEL. The invention also provides for agonists, antibodies, or antagonists specifically binding, HSEL, and their use, in the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with expression of HSEL.
