Systems and methods for controlling energy provided from a battery to a system are disclosed. In some embodiments, the system comprises a voltage cutoff system, and the method comprises steps for operating the voltage cutoff system. In some embodiments, the method comprises receiving a signal associated with the battery's voltage and determining whether the signal is between two threshold voltages. In accordance with a determination that the signal is not between the two threshold voltages (e.g., indicating that the battery's voltage is out of an operating voltage range), the method comprises outputting a latched signal for controlling the battery. For example, the latched signal causes the battery to cease providing power to the system (e.g., cutoff). In some embodiments, in response to receiving an override input, the latched signal causes the battery to continue providing power to the system.

Voltage cutoff system

Systems and methods are disclosed for controlling packs of rechargeable batteries by: for each pack: determining electrical characteristics of the pack; determining energy correction for the pack; calculating a voltage correction for the pack; and determining a dispatch modifier for the pack. The system then normalizes the dispatch modifiers for all packs and recalculates the dispatch modifiers for all packs.

Systems and methods for managing diverse batteries

A supply station and method are provided for charging an electric vehicle and filling a hydrogen-powered vehicle with hydrogen gas simultaneously or separately. The supply station includes a power supply unit, a storage battery system, an electricity-hydrogen conversion device, a hydrogen gas storage system, a hydrogen-electricity conversion device, a charger, and a hydrogen dispenser. The power supply unit and the hydrogen-electricity conversion device supply power to the storage battery system. The power supply unit and the storage battery system power the electricity-hydrogen conversion device. The electricity-hydrogen conversion device stores hydrogen gas in the hydrogen gas storage system. The hydrogen gas storage system provides hydrogen gas to the hydrogen-electricity conversion device. The charger charges an electric vehicle with electric power from the storage battery system. The hydrogen dispenser fills hydrogen gas into a hydrogen-powered vehicle.

Supply station and method capable of charging electricity and filling with hydrogen gas simultaneously or separately

A controller, a system including such a controller, and a method for controlling or managing discharge or charge of a plurality of battery packs are provided. The controller includes one or more processor and at least one tangible, non-transitory machine readable medium encoded with one or more programs configured to perform steps to determine a respective power discharge or charge for each battery packs based on characteristic data of each battery pack, a power demand, and the first weighting factor (a) and the second weighting factor (b) for power assignment based on voltage and state of charge of each battery pack. The controller provides signals with instructions to the plurality of battery packs and/or the one or more power converters for discharging power from or charging power to the plurality of battery packs.

Controller and method for balancing discharge or charge of battery packs in energy storage system

The invention relates to a system and method for COcapture. The system includes a fleet of COproducing assets comprising a fleet of assets having at least two individual assets that produce COcontaining gas streams, and a set of modular COcapture units to capture the COfrom the COcontaining gas streams produced by the fleet of assets, wherein at least one of the individual assets is equipped with not less than two modular COcapture units, and at least one of the modular COcapture units is operated at more than one of the assets during the service life of the modular COcapture unit. The method for COcapture includes providing the fleet of assets and equipping them with a set of modular COcapture units. Advantage over current approaches is performance is optimized across a fleet of assets rather than at an individual site.

System and method for COcapture from a fleet of COproducing assets

A battery power management unit (BPMU), an electrical energy storage system comprising one or more such BPMUs, and method of using the same are provided. Such a BPMU includes a microcontroller and one or more processors having at least one tangible, non-transitory machine readable medium encoded with one or more programs. The BPMU is configured to perform steps of: reading data from the internal BMU of a respective battery pack to establish capacity, an energy baseline, state of health (SOH), and an initial value of state of charge (SOC) of the respective battery pack, checking voltage and current at a time interval, calculating power of the respective battery pack, determining and updating battery date such as SOH and SOC, and transmitting updated battery data to a system controller for controlling discharging power from or charging power to the respective battery pack.

A system and a method are provided for producing electricity and/or chemicals. The system includes a gasifier, a controller, a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power unit, and a chemical synthesis unit. The gasifier converts a fossil fuel, oxygen, and water into a syngas comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The controller is used to control distribution of the hydrogen into a first portion and a second portion. The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power unit receives the first portion of hydrogen and compressed air or oxygen, and generates electricity using the first portion of hydrogen. The chemical synthesis unit receives the second portion of hydrogen. The second portion of hydrogen is used for chemical synthesis.

System and method for producing power and/or chemicals from coal

An electrical energy storage system, a controller, and methods of using the same are provided. The system includes battery packs connected in parallel, one or more battery power management unit, one or more power converters, and a controller. The controller includes one or more processor and at least one tangible, non-transitory machine readable medium encoded with one or more programs configured to perform steps for discharging or charging. The steps include: reading data including state of health (SOH) and state of charge (SOC) from each battery pack, connecting a respective battery pack with a respective power converter; receiving a power command from an energy management system, calculating a respective power rate of each battery pack based on the data of SOH, SOC, and the power command, and discharging power from battery packs to a grid or charging power to battery packs based on the power rate of each battery pack.

The controller includes one or more processor and at least one tangible, non-transitory machine readable medium encoded with one or more programs configured to perform steps to determine a respective discharge power or discharge share for each battery pack for maximizing objective function (J) of the plurality of battery packs defined in Equation (1). The controller provides signals with instructions to the plurality of battery packs and/or the one or more power converters for discharging power from the plurality of battery packs based on the respective discharging share and power of each battery pack and/or keeping a certain battery pack idle.

Controller, system and method for controlling discharge of heterogeneous battery packs

A fluid bypass method for controlling the temperature of a non-petroleum fuel, the fluid bypass method includes: providing a fuel at a pressure sufficient to effect a desired flow rate to a vehicle, the fuel being at a liquid or substantially supercritical thermodynamic state requiring further heat addition in a vaporizer; and diverting a bypass stream with partial or no vaporization to a heat exchanger as a cold fluid on a cold side of the heat exchanger. The method further includes providing a remainder stream of the fuel to the vaporizer; mixing the remainder stream outflowed from the vaporizer with the cold fluid outflowed from the cold side of the heat exchanger to form a combined fuel stream; and providing the combined fuel stream to the heat exchanger as a warm fluid on a warm side of the heat exchanger.
