A polymer composition containing cellulose acetate in combination with one or more impact modifiers is described. The polymer composition can also contain a plasticizer and a bio-based polymer in addition to the cellulose acetate. The polymer composition is formulated so as to have properties similar to petroleum-based polymers for producing, for example, single-use biodegradable articles.

A polymer composition containing cellulose acetate in combination with one or more bloom resistant or bio-based plasticizers and optionally one or more bio-based polymers is described. The polymer composition is formulated so as to have properties similar to petroleum-based polymers for producing, for example, single-use biodegradable articles.

A polymer composition comprising at least one polyaryletherketone, at least one polyarylene sulfide, and a plurality of reinforcing fibers is provided. The composition has a melt viscosity of about 250 Pa-s or less as determined in accordance with ISO Test No. 11443:2005 at a shear rate of 1,000 secondsand temperature of about 380&#xb0; C.

The instant invention provides a high-solid, solvent-free alkyd dispersion, and a continuous process for producing the same. The aqueous alkyd dispersion, according to the present invention comprises (a) from 40 to 70 percent by weight of one or more alkyds based on the total weight of the dispersion, wherein each one or more alkyds has an acid value of less than 20 and a molecular weight (Mn) in the range of greater than 1000 Dalton; (b) from less than 10 percent by weight of one or more surfactants, based on the total weight of the dispersion; and (c) from 30 to 55 percent by weight of water, based on the total weight of the dispersion; and the dispersion has an average particle size diameter in the range of 0.05 to 5 &#x3bc;m.

Alkyd dispersion, and a process for producing the same

The instant invention is a polyurethane dispersion, method of producing the same, coated articles, and method of coating articles. The polyurethane dispersion according to the instant invention comprises (a) one or more polyurethane units derived from one or more prepolymers, wherein the one or more prepolymers comprise the reaction product of one or more natural oil based polyols dissolved in dipropylene glycol dimethyl ether in the presence of one or more first surfactants with one or more isocyanates; and (b) water.

Foam a polymer blend of (a) a high melt strength polypropylene (HMS PP); (b) a linear or substantially linear polypropylene that has a melting point within ten degrees Celsius of (a), a melt flow rate that is significantly different than (a) and that is miscible with (a); and, optionally, (c) a polyethylene that is immiscible with (a) produces a polymeric foam having an average cell size of at least four millimeters and that has an inherent open-celled content of at least 40 percent. The HMS PP makes up 60 weight percent (wt %) or more and 90 wt % or less of the total combined weight of (a) and (b). Component (c) makes up 60 wt % or less of the total polymer blend weight.

Inherently open-celled polypropylene foam with large cell size

Foamable compositions and soft foams comprise at least an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer. The soft foam has a density from about 10 to 150 kg/m. The foamable compositions further comprise a blowing agent. The ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymers are a multi-block copolymer comprising at least one soft block and at least one hard block. Methods of making the foamable compositions and soft foams; and foam articles made from the soft foams are also described.

Soft foams made from interpolymers of ethylene/alpha-olefins

A cellular thermoplastic polyolefin foam comprising at least one particulate additive in admixture with a polymer matrix is disclosed, along with a process and foamable gel for manufacturing the same, wherein the polyolefin matrix comprises at least one polymer resin graft-modified with at least one polar group selected from the group consisting of acid, acid ester, and acid anhydride, and salts thereof. The invention facilitates the manufacture of macrocellular foams useful for acoustic absorption having increased amounts of particulate additives that provide certain desired properties difficult to achieve without the particulate additives, such as improved flame retardancy.

A macrocellular foam is described having improved cell size and Fire-test-response Characteristics, among other features, which is obtained by selecting a particle size less than 1 micron for the flame retardant adjuvant. The inventors found that the amount of fire retardant adjuvant can be increased for a given foam cell size or the foam cell size can be increased for a given amount of fire retardant adjuvant, allowing the production of foams having exceptionally large, well-formed, cells that have excellent Fire-test-response Characteristics. The benefits are especially noteworthy in relation to thermoplastic foams and inorganic flame retardation adjuvants, due to the unexpected reduction in the nucleation effect of the adjuvant. The foams are useful for improving the acoustic performance of products that are required to meet certain Fire-test-response Characteristics. It may be used in automotive and other transportation devices, building and construction, household and garden appliances, power tool and appliance and electrical supply housing, connectors, and aircraft as acoustic systems for sound absorption and insulation.

Preparation of a macrocellular acoustic foam

Macrocellular polyolefin foams that can withstand temperatures above 110&deg; C. are described for use in sound absorption and insulation applications, especially in elevated temperature and/or moist environments. These foams have a large cell size (&gE;1.5 mm), are open or closed-cell foams, and preferably have at least one perforation per square centimeter and/or a density less than 25 kg/m . They are obtainable by extruding a high melt strength (HMS) polypropylene resin (PP), or preferably a blend of a HMS PP resin and a free radical polymerized ethylene polymer present in the blend in a weight ratio of at least 35:65, optionally another polymer such as a substantially random interpolymer, a cell size enlarging agent such a glycerol monostearate, an antioxidant, carbon black and/or flame retardant additives, using a volatile organic compound, e.g. isobutane, as blowing agent.
