The present disclosure provides a process for oxidation of p-xylene to terephthalic acid. Recovery of fluid medium and valuable chemicals in carried out using p-xylene as fluid medium which is also the starting material. The recovered stream containing p-xylene, acetic acid and other valuable chemicals is recycled to the oxidation step. The process disclosed in the present disclosure is energy efficient and cost effective.

Process for oxidation of alkyl aromatic compound to aromatic carboxylic acid

The present disclosure provides a process for recovering and recycling a catalyst from the mother liquor generated during the production of aromatic carboxylic acids. The process comprises treating the mother liquor with an alkyl aromatic compound and further treating the first aqueous layer obtained with an ionic liquid to obtain a catalyst rich aqueous mixture. The catalyst rich aqueous mixture is recycled to the oxidation reactor.

Catalyst recovery and recycling process during aromatic carboxylic acid production

The present disclosure provides a composition for preparing terephthalic acid; said composition comprises p-Toluic acid in an amount of 0.05% to 4% with respect to the total mass of the composition; at least one catalyst in an amount of 0.02% to 2.5% with respect to the total mass of the composition; at least one ionic liquid in an amount of 0.04% to 50% with respect to the total mass of the composition; at least one carboxylic acid solvent; and p-xylene. The present disclosure also provides a process for preparing terephthalic acid.

Composition for preparing terephthalic acid

The present disclosure provides a composition for preparing aryl carboxylic acid; said composition comprising: at least one ionic liquid, at least one catalyst, at least one non-oxidizable polar solvent, and at least one oxidizable multi-alkylated arylene compound with no two successive ring positions bearing alkyl group. The present disclosure also provides a process for preparing aryl carboxylic acid.

Ionic liquid composition

In the present disclosure, a process for separating aryl carboxylic acids from a mixture comprising a plurality of aryl carboxylic acids is provided, wherein the process comprising the steps of heating a first mixture that comprises at least two aryl carboxylic acids wherein each of said aryl carboxylic acids having a pre-determined liquefaction temperature and a pre-determined precipitation temperature, with at least one ionic compound, at a pre-determined temperature to obtain a liquefied composition; and cooling the liquefied composition under controlled temperature conditions to fractionally crystallize and precipitate an aryl carboxylic acid. The precipitated aryl carboxylic acid is isolated and the obtained mother liquor is subjected to iterated cooling steps until each of the remaining aryl carboxylic acids precipitates one by one. The mother liquor remains in liquefied form.
