A method of transmitting a block from a bridge to a mesh network includes transmitting the block to at least a first node of a plurality of nodes, for distribution through the mesh network. The block includes a plurality of packets. The bridge receives, from the plurality of nodes, a plurality of status packets. Each status packet indicates reception status of the plurality of packets at a respective node of the plurality of nodes. The bridge selects at least a first packet of the plurality of packets for retransmission to the mesh network, based on the status packets. The bridge generates a retransmission block including at least the first packet. The first packet is included in the retransmission block a number of times based on the status packets. The bridge transmits the retransmission block to at least the first node, for distribution of the retransmission block through the mesh network.

Secure over the air upload mechanism for wireless mesh nodes

In some configurations, the method of operating a system with dynamic wireless network topology with reduced spectrum flooding involve scanning with a first device in mesh network for beacon packets from other devices in the mesh network during a random back off period. In response to the first device not receiving a beacon packet from the other devices during the random back off period, the first device initiates an election protocol by sending an election protocol packet with its unique election protocol identifier to the other devices. In response to receiving a beacon packet from a second device, the first device stores the unique node identifier, assigns the second device as a leader node device, retransmits the unique node identifier of the second device and leader node information in a protocol packet. A command packet is communicated through the mesh network by way of at least one leader node device.

In order to save power the nodes in the mesh network may periodically switch from being in a broadcast mode and a skip cycle. When in the broadcast mode the node may cycle broadcasting new IDs in order to prevent spoofing.

Rather, only a server may have a copy of the device key, and can thus decrypt the advertising packet. Communication may be enabled between mobile devices (i.e., controllers) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices by sending connectionless commands from a controller to an IoT device, or sending connectionless commands from a controller to more than one IoT devices, at the same time. One or more commands may be sent from a controller to one or more nodes that form a network, with the nodes relaying messages to each other via connectionless data packets. This may allow for connectionless command relay from the controller to any node within the network. By sending commands through connectionless data packets, one or more controllers may control one or more nodes at the same time. Furthermore, a single controller may directly send one or more commands to a group of nodes at the same time.

A tag signal from a tracking tag is received at a mesh node. Tag data is forwarded from a mesh node to a gateway, and from the gateway to an application layer in a server. Tag information is calculated by the application layer in the server. The tag information is transmitted back to the gateway, and from the gateway to the node.

An apparatus for tracking patients utilizes a wristband with integrated radio frequency circuits (RFIC). The wristband may further incorporate an antenna on a flex PCB. The wristband may also be disposable and comprising means for replacing the RFIC.
