A shutter assembly for a lawnmower includes a steel cutter housing, a shutter, and a lever. The cutter housing can include a cutter housing slot passing through the cutter housing. The shutter can be rotatably attached to the cutter housing so as to be movable between: a first shutter position in which a blocking panel of the shutter is positioned such that the blocking panel opens the discharge opening; and a second shutter position in which the blocking panel is positioned such that the blocking panel closes the discharge opening, and the second shutter position corresponds to a mulching position. The lever can be attached to the shutter and can extend through the cutter housing slot. The cutter housing slot can be configured to limit movement of the lever such that a range of motion of the blocking panel extends from the first shutter position to the second shutter position.

Shutter assembly for a lawnmower, lawnmower having same, and convertible lawnmower

A lawnmower can include a deck, blade, electric motor, battery pack, housing and fan. An air inlet can be located at the front end of the housing and adjacent to the top surface of the deck. The fan can be mounted in the housing and the housing can be configured such that, when the fan operates, air enters the housing air inlet at the front end of the housing, air flowing through the housing air inlet enters the first chamber, air flowing in the first chamber flows through the battery pack, air exiting the first chamber enters the second chamber and flows through the second chamber, air flowing in the second chamber flows through the motor in a direction that extends along the blade axis, and air exiting the motor exits the housing through the at least one air outlet.

Apparatus and method for cooling lawnmower components

A convertible lawnmower includes a housing and a mulching system. The housing includes a discharge opening. The mulching system includes a mounting ring and a shutter ring. The mounting ring is coupled substantially concentrically to the housing and includes an upper surface, a lower surface, and a sidewall that extends substantially axially therebetween. The sidewall is formed with a retaining groove and at least one installation groove. The retaining groove extends at least partially circumferentially within an inner surface of the sidewall and each installation groove extends axially from the lower surface to the retaining groove. The shutter ring is only coupled to mounting ring via the retaining groove such that the shutter ring is selectively shiftable between a mulching mode and a discharge mode.

Variable mulching assembly for use with a lawnmower

A convertible lawnmower with a mulching mode and a discharge mode includes a housing and a mulching system. The housing includes a discharge opening. The mulching system includes a mounting ring and a shutter ring. The mounting ring is coupled substantially concentrically to the housing and includes an upper surface, a lower surface, and a sidewall that extends substantially axially therebetween. The sidewall is formed with a retaining groove and at least one installation groove. The retaining groove extends at least partially circumferentially within an inner surface of the sidewall and each installation groove extends axially from the lower surface to the retaining groove. The shutter ring is only coupled to mounting ring via the retaining groove such that the shutter ring is selectively shiftable between a mulching mode and a discharge mode.

A shutter assembly for a lawnmower can include a cutter housing, a shutter, and a lever. The shutter can be rotatably attached to the cutter housing so as to be movable between (a) a first shutter position in which a blocking panel is positioned such that the blocking panel opens the discharge opening, and (b) a second shutter position in which the blocking panel is positioned such that the blocking panel closes the discharge opening, and the second shutter position corresponds to a mulching position. The lever can be attached to the shutter and extend through the cutter housing slot. The lever can move the shutter between the first shutter position and the second shutter position. The lever can include a handle knob assembly that includes a button that is biased, by a spring, to lock in any one of a plurality of positions on the cutter housing.

A discharge guard assembly for a mower includes a cutter housing having an opening for discharging cuttings. A guard is hingedly attached to the housing so that the guard can move between a closed position and an open position. A latch contacts a stop on the guard to hold the guard in the closed position to allow the mower to operate in a mulching configuration. The latch is movable to an unlatched position in which the guard is free to rotate to the open position to allow cuttings to be discharged through the opening in the housing.

Discharge guard assembly for a mower

A lawnmower includes a belt cover attached to a cutter housing via one or more interlocking tabs and pockets. The lawnmower may include a cutter mounted to a shaft oriented in a vertical direction. The lawnmower may include a rear axle oriented in a horizontal direction. The lawnmower may include a cutter housing defining a lower opening below the cutter, a belt opening between the shaft and the rear axle, and at least one discharge opening. The lawnmower may include a belt cover including a ring portion at least partially surrounding the shaft above the cutter and a guard portion extending toward the belt opening. The belt cover may include at least one tab that engages a corresponding pocket on the cutter housing adjacent the belt opening.
