In one or more implementations, user content items generated using a client application may be shared with users that are not contacts of the user within the client application. A user interface that indicates a number of recipients of the user content item may be generated that also includes a first section that displays the user content item and a second section to add text content to the user content item. In various examples, one or more classifications may be associated with the user content item.

Generating modified user content that includes additional text content

Method of generating customized avatars based on location information includes processor receiving from first client device location information including a location of the first client device. Processor causes a status interface to be displayed on first client device that includes selectable location items corresponding to locations based on the location information. Processor receives a selection from first client device of first selectable location item and causes avatar selection interface to be displayed on first client device that includes versions of first avatar performing actions related to the first selectable location item. Processor receives selection of first selectable version of the first avatar and generates a map interface that includes a map display based on the location information and the first selectable version of the first avatar. Processor causes the map interface to be displayed on at least one of the plurality of client devices. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Generating customized avatars based on location information

Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a method for navigating an avatar based on time zones. A global event is identified that begins at a particular time on a given date; a sequential list of time zones associated with a plurality of geographical locations is retrieved; and a current time at a first time zone of the sequential list of time zones is determined to have reached the particular time on the given date. In response, an avatar is generated for display on a map at a first of the plurality of geographical locations associated with the first time zone and is navigated to a second geographical location when a current time at a second time zone, associated with the second geographical location, reaches the particular time on the given date.

Global event-based avatar

A map-based graphical user interface (GUI) for a public messaging platform allows a user location-based to their own expired ephemeral content. Such expired content is no longer available to other users for online viewing. The user can, however, switch the GUI between a live mode and a historical mode, access to their own expired content in the historical mode being facilitated in a manner closely similar to that for viewing live publicly available content.

A number of classifications may be recommended to users of a client application based on alphanumeric characters entered by the users. Additionally, a number of classifications may be recommended to the users of the client application based one or more additional criteria, such as recently used classifications or classifications having at least a threshold frequency of use by additional users of the client application.

Determining classification recommendations for user content

A server-side administrative interface for a social media platform allows for restriction of defined geographical areas. Social media items originating from such restricted areas are automatically filtered or age-restricted for availability via a map-based graphical user interface of the social media platform.

Method of generating customized graphics based on location information includes processor receiving location information including location of first client device. Processor causes a status interface to be displayed on the first client device that includes locations that are within a predetermined distance from the first client device. Processor receives a selection from the first client device of the first location via the status interface and stores the first location in a location database associated with the first user. Location database includes: locations previously selected by the first client device via the status interface, locations associated with media content items received from the first client device, or locations associated with the location information received from the first client device. Processor generates a country selectable item, a city selectable item, and timeline selectable items and causes passport interface to be displayed on the first client device. Generating customized graphics based on location information

In one or more implementations, content generated using a client application may be associated with a classification. The content may be accessed based on one or more classifications associated with the content. Content may be generated by a client application executed by a client device of a content creator and sent to a server system that may distribute the content to one or more additional client devices of recipients of the content. The server system may also aggregate content having a same classification.
