An intraocular micro-display (IOMD) implant includes an enclosure shaped for implantation into an eye, a micro-display, a base lens, and an adjustable lens. The micro-display is disposed in the enclosure and oriented to emit an image towards a retina of the eye. The base lens has a fixed optical power, is attached to the enclosure, and is positioned relative to the micro-display to reside in an optical path extending between the micro-display and the retina. The base lens is configured to apply the fixed optical power to the image. The adjustable lens is disposed in the optical path between the micro-display and the retina. The adjustable lens has an adjustable optical power that is adjustable in-situ to adjust a focal distance of the image projected by the IOMD implant after the IOMD implant has been implanted into the eye.

Adjustable optical system for intraocular micro-display

An intraocular system that includes a headset that optically transmits data and power to an implant. The headset includes a camera to capture image data that includes a visual representation of an environment of the headset and an optical transmitter to transmit the image data as an optical signal into a cornea of an eye of a user when the user is wearing the headset. The implant includes an optical receiver to receive the optical signal through the cornea and an image formation device orientated to present the image data from the optical signal onto a retina of the eye when the implant is inside the eye.

Intraocular system for transmitting data and power optically to an implant

An intraocular micro-display (IOMD) system includes an auxiliary head unit. The auxiliary head unit includes a frame for mounting to a head of a user, a scene camera module mounted in or on the frame in a forward-facing orientation, a gaze tracking module disposed in or on the frame and configured to monitor an eye of the user, and an auxiliary controller. The auxiliary controller includes for: acquiring a scene image with the scene camera module, determining a gazing direction of the eye based upon gaze direction data from the gaze tracking module, identifying a sub-portion of the scene image based upon the gazing direction, and wirelessly relaying the sub-portion of the scene image to an IOMD implant within the eye for displaying to a retina of the eye.

Natural physio-optical user interface for intraocular microdisplay

A system for fluorescence activated cell sorting includes at least two excitation lasers having different orientations relative to an objective such that light from the at least two lasers passes through the objective and intersects a fluidic channel at different positions within an interrogation region. The fluidic channel directs a flow of a plurality of fluorescently labeled particles through the interrogation region. The system further includes at least one detector and at least one optical element that directs light emitted from the plurality of fluorescently labeled particles and transmitted through the objective to the at least one detector. The system may further include optics for generating and detecting side and forward scattered light. Methods for operating example systems to collect fluorescent, side scattered and forward scattered light from a plurality of particles are also described herein.

Multichannel excitation and emission for miniaturized, planar fluorescence activated cell sorting

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for detecting carious lesions are described herein. In an example, the systems in an optical interrogator including a single-pixel photodetector responsive to short-wave infrared light and operatively coupled to a controller. In an example the optical interrogator includes a light engine for emitting light, a scanning mirror assembly and a single-pixel photodetector. In an example, the methods include causing the light engine to emit light having wavelengths in a range of about 900 nm to about 1,700 nm; selectively directing the light over different portions of a tooth with a scanning mirror assembly to provide scattered light; and correlating scattered light signals generated by the single-pixel photodetector in response to the scattered light with the portion of the tooth.

Systems for detecting carious lesions in teeth using short-wave infrared light

High-throughput hyperspectral imaging systems are provided. According to an aspect of the invention, a system includes an excitation light source; an objective that is configured to image excitation light onto the sample, such that the excitation light causes the sample to emit fluorescence light; a channel separator that is configured to separate the fluorescence light into a plurality of spatially dispersed spectral channels; and a sensor. The excitation light source includes a light source and a plurality of lenslet arrays. Each of the lenslet arrays is configured to receive light from the light source and to generate a pattern of light, and the patterns of light generated by the lenslet arrays are combined to form the excitation light. The objective is configured to simultaneously image each of the patterns of light to form a plurality of parallel lines or an array of circular spots at different depths of the sample.

High-throughput hyperspectral imaging systems

Devices, systems, and associated methods for detecting drops dispensed by a dropper are provided. For example, a drop detection device may include a light source and a light detector configured to be coupled to a drop dispenser such that the light source and light detector are disposed proximal of a distal dispensing tip of the drop dispenser. The light detector may be configured to receive a reflected portion of a beam of light from the light source, which is reflected by a drop dispensed through the dispensing tip of the drop dispenser. In some embodiments, a processing circuit is configured to analyze a signal provided by the light detector to detect the dispensed drop.

Detecting backscatter from drops dispensed from a handheld dropper and associated systems, devices, and methods

Disclosed herein are systems and methods capable of identifying, tracking, and sorting particles or droplets flowing in a channel, for example, a microfluidic channel having a fluid medium. The channel and the fluid medium can have a similar refractive index such that they appear translucent or transparent when illuminated by electromagnetic radiation. The particles or droplets can have a refractive index substantially different from that of the channel and the medium, such that the particles or droplets interfere with the electromagnetic radiation. A sensor can be disposed adjacent to the channel to record the electromagnetic radiation. The sensor can be attached to a system for identifying, tracking, and sorting the droplets.

Systems and methods for detecting particles in a fluid channel

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for cellular imaging and identification through the use of a light sheet flow cytometer. In one implementation, a light sheet flow cytometer may include a light source configured to emit light having one or more wavelengths, at least one optical element configured to form a light sheet from the emitted light, a microfluidic channel configured to hold a sample, and an imaging device. The imaging device may be adapted to forming 3-D images of the sample such that identification tags attached to the sample are visible.

Light sheet imaging flow cytometer

Systems and methods for determining the identity of a liquid within a liquid dispenser are provided. A device includes a holder having an opening that is configured to retain the liquid dispenser. A surface of the liquid dispenser is configured to affix a label identifying a liquid within the liquid dispenser. A plurality of lenses are mounted on the holder. Each lens has a respective field of view that includes a respective portion of the surface of the liquid dispenser. In addition, the device includes a plurality of fiber bundles. Each fiber bundle includes an input that is configured to receive a respective signal from a respective one of the plurality of lenses. Further, the device includes an imaging sensor that is configured to receive the respective signals from the plurality of fiber bundles and to form a plurality of images of the surface of the liquid dispenser.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for detecting carious lesions are described herein. Systems and methods for filtering an optical beam are described. In one implementation, a system for filtering an input optical beam includes a first beamsplitter, a first spectral slicing module, a second spectral slicing module, and a second beamsplitter. The first beamsplitter is configured to split the input optical beam into a first optical beam and a second optical beam. The first spectral slicing module has a first passband and is configured to filter the first optical beam. The second spectral slicing module has a second passband and is configured to filter the second optical beam. The second beamsplitter is configured to combine the first optical beam and the second optical beam into an output optical beam. The first and second spectral slicing modules may each comprise a longpass filter and a shortpass filter aligned along its optical axis, and the longpass filter and/or the shortpass filter are rotatable relative to the optical axis. Advantageously, the optical system allows for tunable spectral filtering of the input optical beam suitable for 2-D imaging systems.
