A peep proof display method adapted to a display apparatus including a first backlight module and a second backlight module. At a narrow view angle display mode, output a first data signal and a second data signal according to the first data signal. During a first sub-frame period, enable the first backlight module and disable the second backlight module so as to display the first data signal on the display apparatus. During a second sub-frame, enable the second backlight module and disable the first backlight module so as to display the second data signal on the display apparatus. A peak of a first light intensity distribution curve of the first backlight module is in a narrow viewing angle range. Peaks of a second light intensity distribution curve of the second backlight module are in a wide viewing angle range individual to the narrow viewing angle range.

Peep-proof display apparatus and display method thereof

A display device includes a display panel, a backlight module and a reel. The backlight module faces the display panel and includes a light transmissive region, a light emitting region and a peripheral region, in which the peripheral region is disposed between the light transmissive region and the light emitting region. The light transmissive region includes a first edge extending along a first direction and a second edge extending along a second direction. The backlight module includes a first brightness enhancing film including first microstructures arranged along the first direction. The first microstructures that pass through the peripheral region without connecting to the first edge have less light gathering efficiency than the first microstructures that only pass through the light emitting region. The reel faces the light transmissive region, and the display panel and the reel are respectively located on opposing sides of the backlight module.

Display device

Disclosed herein are a curved display apparatus and a gamma correction method thereof. The curved display apparatus includes first, second, and third regions and a driving module. The first and third regions are located respectively along two opposite edges of the curved display apparatus, while the second region is located between the first and third regions. A control signal instructs the curved display apparatus to display by a grayscale value. The driving module is configured to receive the control signal and thereby generate first, second, and third voltage commands for the three regions respectively, in order to drive the three regions. According to the disclosed gamma correction method, the absolute voltage values indicated by the first and third voltage commands is less than that by the second voltage command when the grayscale value is not greater than a threshold value.

Curved display apparatus and gamma correction method thereof

A backlight module includes a light guide plate, at least one light source, and a reflective plate. The light source is configured for emitting light toward the light guide plate. The reflective plate has a plurality of reflective units arranging along a curved direction. Each of the reflective units includes a body and a plurality of microstructures. The body has a main surface facing the light guide plate. The plurality of microstructures are disposed on the main surface of the body. Each of the microstructures has a reflective surface. A first angle is included between the reflective surface of each of the microstructures and the main surface of the body. The first angles of the microstructures in one reflective unit are different from the first angles of the microstructures in an adjacent reflective unit.

A backlight module including a light guide plate, light source sets, and controlling circuits is provided. The light guide plate has a plurality of regions, and each region of the light guide plate has a light incident surface correspondingly. Each light source set is disposed at the light incident surface of one of the regions of the light guide plate, and each light source set has at least one middle light source and at least one edge light source. The middle light source is disposed in a middle region of the light source set and the edge light source is disposed at an edge of the light source set. Each controlling circuit is electrically connected to the middle light source of one of the light source sets, and the edge light source of each light source set is electrically connected to the controlling circuit of the adjacent light source set.

Backlight module and display apparatus

A light source module including a light guide plate and a light source is provided. The light guide plate has a light incident surface and a light emitting region, and the light guide plate has a plurality of grooves or protruding patterns thereon. The length of the grooves or the protruding patterns is smaller than the length of the light guide plate. The light source is disposed on the light incident surface of the light guide plate, and the grooves or the protruding patterns of the light guide plate are disposed beside the light incident surface.

Light source module and display module

A light guide plate microstructure is provided. The light guide plate microstructure is located on at least one surface of the light guide plate and has a plurality of groove units. Each groove unit has multiple V-shaped grooves, and each V-shaped groove has an apex angle within a range of about 80&#xb0;-160&#xb0;. Furthermore, at least two of the V-shaped grooves of a groove unit have different apex angles.

Light guide plate microstructure

A light guide plate has a light incident surface, a light emitting surface and a bottom surface. The bottom surface or the light emitting surface has a plurality of light guide units disposed thereon. Each of the light guide units has a first curved surface and a second curved surface connected with the first curved surface. Both of the first curved surface and the second curved surface are concave surfaces or convex surfaces. In a cross section perpendicular to the light incident surface and passing through the first curved surface and the second curved surface, the first curved surface and the cross section intersect in a first curved line, and the second curved surface and the cross section intersect in a second curved line. A curvature radius of the first curved line is greater than that of the second curved line.

Light guide plate and backlight module using the same

A reflector for use in a backlight module, and a method for making the same are disclosed. The backlight module includes a light source and a light guide plate. The light guide plate includes a light-entry surface and a light-emitting surface, substantially normal to the light-entry surface. After the light-entry surface of the light guide plate receives the first portion of light emitted from the light source, the light is emitted out of the light-emitting surface via the inner portion of the light guide plate. The reflector comprises a body and a protruding structure. The body defines a space for receiving the light source. The body comprises a first end portion and a second end portion which define the opening. The light-entry surface of the light guide plate substantially faces the light source through the opening. The first end portion is disposed proximal to the light-emitting surface, whereas the second end portion is disposed distal to the light-emitting surface. In addition, the protruding structure is disposed on the first end portion and faces the second end portion so that the second portion of light emitted from the light source is scattered to the light guide plate through the protruding structure.
