This application relates to a magnetic attachment mechanism attached to a stand for a display unit. The display unit includes a housing enclosing a display panel. The housing has a recess formed on a rear surface of the housing to accept the magnetic attachment mechanism. The magnetic attachment mechanism includes a magnetic element that is magnetically coupled to a corresponding magnetic element in the housing of the desktop display device when the magnetic attachment mechanism is inserted into the recess. The magnetic attachment mechanism also includes a latch mechanism that locks the display unit to the stand when the latch mechanism is engaged with a surface feature of the recess. The latch mechanism can be disengaged to allow for mobility of the display unit as separated from the stand.

An electronic device includes a display, and a housing at least partially surrounding the display and comprising a first housing member defining a first portion of an exterior surface of the electronic device and a second housing member defining a second portion of the exterior surface of the electronic device and configured to function as an antenna. The electronic device also includes a joining structure positioned between the first housing member and the second housing member including a reinforcement plate and a molded element at least partially encapsulating the reinforcement plate and engaged with the first housing member and the second housing member, thereby retaining the first housing member to the second housing member.

Display assemblies for supporting displays on stands or support arms have mount portions to removably attach to the displays using magnetic assemblies and latches. The magnetic assemblies and latches can improve user experience and allow the display to be installed on a support arm from the viewing side of the display and without having to see or reach behind the display. Magnetic structures can center a mount portion of the support arm and a recess of the display and can attract them to each other. Laterally-extending latches can ensure the display is not inadvertently removed. Locking mechanisms can prevent the display from being rotated to a portrait orientation when sufficient space around the display and the necessary user intent is not provided.

A aesthetically appealing mounting system for an electronic device capable of forming a semi-conductive path for electro-static discharge. The mounting system can include an electrically conductive layer covered by a cosmetic anodized layer with multiple micro-perforations formed through the anodized layer exposing a small portion of the electrically conductive layer. The micro-perforations can be formed by laser-etching the cosmetic anodized layer to provide a grounding path while the micro-perforations remain visually undetectable. A semi-conductive wear layer can be configured to couple with the anodized layer. In some embodiments, the semi-conductive wear layer is in a recess on an electronic device. In some embodiments, the semi-conductive wear layer is comprised of a conformal conductive rubber.

An electronic device having an indication member for determining liquid exposure in an electronic device is disclosed. The indication member may include ink and a layer covering the ink. The layer may include a liquid-permeable layer that allows liquid to pass through the layer and contact the ink. In this regard, at least some of the ink may rise through the layer and to a top surface of the indication member. Although the ink may be exposed at the top surface, in some cases, the ink is visible or detectable when exposed to light from an ultraviolet light source. Also, the top surface may include a pattern or other indicia that is also visible or detectable when exposed to the light source. When the indication member is exposed to liquid, the pattern may be altered or disturbed in a location corresponding to an exposed portion of the indication member.
