Processes and systems for the integrated production of propylene and an alkylate, such as cumene, may include feeding a hydrocarbon feedstock containing propane to a propane dehydrogenation reaction zone to convert a portion of the propane to propylene. The propylene is separated in a separation system to form a polymer-grade propylene stream, a low purity propylene stream, and a propane stream. The low purity propylene stream is then fed to an alkylation reaction zone where the propylene is reacted to produce an alkylated product and generate a low pressure steam. The low pressure steam may then be fed to the separation system as a heat source, integrating the dehydrogenation system and the alkylation system.

Integrated propane dehydrogenation process

A procedure for shutting down a dehydrogenation reactor having a catalyst bed with a chromium-containing catalyst operating at a first elevated temperature comprises cooling the catalyst bed with a first cooling gas to a second elevated temperature lower than the first elevated temperature, removing the first cooling gas, introducing a reducing gas to the catalyst bed, cooling the catalyst bed with a second cooling gas from the second elevated temperature to a third elevated temperature, removing the reducing gas, cooling the catalyst bed to a fourth elevated temperature, and introducing air to cool the catalyst to ambient temperature, whereby the dehydrogenation reactor is shut down. The second cooling gas may be the same as, or different from, the reducing gas. Moreover, the reducing gas may be purged from the reactor by a third cooling gas.

Method of shutting down a reactor

An improved process for the production of olefins, and in particular for separation of olefins produced by a dehydrogenation process from paraffin feed stocks, is provided. A high pressure product splitter is used to separate olefins produced in a dehydrogenation plant from residual paraffin feed stocks. The use of a high pressure splitter to separate olefin products from paraffin feed stocks allows for recovery of a high purity olefin product with lower energy consumption compared to prior art processes. The process is particularly suited to separation of propylene from propane.

This invention relates to an integrated process for the efficient production of olefins from Cfeedstocks comprising butane and more particularly to a method of producing propylene and butadiene. The process combines a dehydrogenation unit with an olefin conversion unit to convert butane feedstock to propylene and butadiene products. The combined catadiene-OCT process produces yields of propylene from normal butane in excess of 70%.

Improved processes for the separation of olefins from paraffins, such as propylene from propane are provided. Two product splitters are used in parallel to separate propylene from propane. One of the product splitters operates at a lower pressure, while the second product splitter operates at a higher pressure. The use of the two splitters in parallel provides a process for recovery of a high purity propylene product with lower energy consumption compared to prior art processes.

Separation process for olefin production

A method is provided herein for the extraction of phenol from a waste water stream. The method is used in conjunction with a process for producing acetone and phenol from cumene. The method for extracting phenol from waste water includes contacting in a countercurrent mode a phenol-containing waste water stream with a hydrocarbon stream derived from a bottoms stream from the acetone finishing column to produce a dephenolated waste water stream and a phenol-containing hydrocarbon stream. The phenol-containing hydrocarbon stream is preferably washed with an aqueous caustic solution to provide a hydrocarbon stream, which is then conveyed to the alpha-methylstyrene recovery system. Preferably the hydrocarbon stream derived from the bottoms stream of the acetone finishing column is water washed prior to contacting the phenol-containing waste water stream.
