Provided is a mobile terminal characterized by comprising: a display unit which outputs visual information; a depth camera which captures a subject and acquires a depth image; a memory which stores a vein pattern of a user's hand; and a control unit connected to the display unit, the depth camera, and the memory. The control unit identifies the shape of the user's hand from the depth image, authenticates the user using a pre-stored user vein pattern, and when the user is authenticated, executes a specific application in response to a three-dimensional gesture of the user's hand, and omits an authentication procedure required by the specific application.

A mobile terminal and controlling method thereof are disclosed, by which a plurality of images are synthesized. The present invention includes a camera configuring to acquire a first image in response to a shooting command and a plurality of second images on a preset condition, a controller creating a synthetic image by synthesizing a whole part of the acquired first image and at least one portion of a plurality of the acquired second images, and a display unit configured to display the created synthetic image, wherein the controller controls a prescribed visual effect to be displayed on the synthetic image to indicate a region corresponding to the first image.

The present invention includes a touchscreen, a memory, and a controller outputting a play screen of a video to the touchscreen, the controller, if receiving a touch drag input to the outputted plays screen of the video, activating a memo function of saving a touch path of the touch drag input as a writing memo, the controller recording the outputted play screen of the video while the memo function is activated. Accordingly, while a mobile terminal plays a video, a user interface for enabling a user to input a memo more quickly and conveniently can be provided advantageously.
