A display device apparatus provides an increased color reproduction rate and/or contrast ratio. The display device includes a first substrate; a second substrate disposed on the first substrate; and a liquid crystal layer arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate. A reflective layer is disposed on the first substrate, a polarizing layer is disposed on one surface of the second substrate, and a metasurface pattern layer is disposed on the second substrate. The metasurface pattern layer includes a third substrate and a first metasurface pattern disposed on the third substrate.

A display device includes a display panel, a light guide plate, a first light source unit, and an optical member. The light guide plate is on the display panel. The first light source unit is configured to provide light to a side surface of the light guide plate. The optical member is between the light guide plate and the display panel. The optical member includes an interconnection layer, an optical pattern unit including first optical patterns on a surface of the interconnection layer, and first pattern shaping wires configured to receive a control voltage from the interconnection layer and to control a shape of each of the first optical patterns via the control voltage. Each of the first optical patterns is connected to a respective some of the first pattern shaping wires.

A display device includes a display panel, a light source and an optical component which receives light from the light source, outputs the provided light toward the display panel, and includes a light guiding film which guides the light toward the display panel, an optical sheet which is coupled to the light guiding film, and the optical sheet includes a base film and optical patterns disposed between the base film and the light guiding film to adjust the traveling direction of the light, and a reinforcing part filled between the base film and the light guiding film corresponding to a periphery of the optical component.

A display device includes a display panel, a light source, and an optical component including a light guide film and an optical sheet. The optical sheet is coupled to the light guide film to control a path of a light emitted from the light guide film. The optical sheet includes a base film, main optical patterns, and sub-optical patterns. The main optical patterns are disposed between the base film and the light guide film and coupled to the base film and the light guide film. Each of the main optical patterns includes a side surface inclined with respect to the light guide film. The sub-optical patterns are disposed between the base film and the light guide film, coupled to the base film, and spaced apart from the light guide film. Each of the sub-optical patterns has a side surface inclined with respect to the light guide film.

A display apparatus includes a display panel, a light source, a light guide plate, and a receiving part. The display panel is configured to receive light to display an image. The light source is configured to emit the light. The light guide plate is configured to receive and guide the light to the display panel. Method of manufacturing a light guide plate and display apparatus including the same

A display device includes a backlight unit and a display panel disposed on the backlight unit. The backlight unit includes a light guide plate including a plurality of charged particles, a light source unit disposed at a side of the light guide plate and providing light to the light guide plate, and a transparent electrode disposed under the light guide plate. Each of the plurality of charged particles includes first and second charged portions which have charge values of which polarities are different from each other. The first charged portion reflects the light received from the light source unit, and the second charged portion absorbs the light received from the light source unit. Positions of the first and second charged portions of each of the plurality of charged particles are controlled based on a voltage applied to the transparent electrode.

A display apparatus includes a display panel which receives light to display an image. A light guide plate guides the light toward the display panel. A light source unit is disposed at a first side of the light guide plate to provide the light to the light guide plate. The light source unit includes a printed circuit board which includes a first area and a second area. A first light source is disposed on the first area and generates the light. A first stepped part is disposed on the second area and faces the first light source. A first adhesive part is disposed on the second area. The first stepped part reflects the light which is generated from the first light source toward the light guide plate, and the first adhesive part attaches the printed circuit board to the light guide plate.
