An optical device includes a row of optical units, each of the optical units comprising an antenna element and an associated phase shifting element, a first optical power splitter optically coupled to a first optical input/output element, and a first plurality of boundary adjustment elements. In the optical phased array, each of the first plurality of boundary adjustment units optically couples the first optical power splitter to different sub-rows of the row of optical units, and each of the plurality of boundary adjustment elements include a sub-row amplitude adjustment element and a sub-row phase adjustment element.

Monolithically integrated large-scale optical phased array

An optical device includes an array of unit optical elements. Each of the unit optical elements includes a plurality of amplitude adjustment (AA) elements, each of the plurality of AA elements configured for processing one of different phases of an optical signal; an optical antenna, and a combining mechanism for optically coupling the plurality of AA elements to the optical antenna. The optical device also includes a controller coupled to the plurality of AA elements, the controller configured for generating control signals for the plurality of AA elements according to a target optical beam pattern.

Two-dimensional optical phased array

A radio frequency transmitter for wireless communication includes a plurality of input ports to receive a plurality of sequences of baseband symbols to be transmitted on a plurality of disjoint frequency bands, a power encoder to modulate and encode the plurality of sequences of baseband symbols to produce an encoded multi-band signal including the plurality of disjoint frequency bands carrying the plurality of sequences of baseband symbols, a first power amplifier for amplifying the encoded multi-band signal to produce an amplified encoded multi-band signal, a first noise canceller to generate a first noise mitigation signal from the encoded multi-band signal and the plurality of sequences of baseband symbols, a first power combiner to combine the amplified encoded multi-band signal and the first noise mitigation signal to produce an RF multi-band signal, and an antenna for transmitting the RF multi-band signal.

Inter-band CA digital transmitter with multi-stage out-of-band noise canceller

A wideband self-envelope tracking power amplifier (PA) can use more than a 40-MHz channel bandwidth and improves the envelope bandwidth limit of a self-envelope tracking PAs by ten times. The PA uses an envelope load network, which is based on a general multi-stage low-pass filter. The envelope load network located between an RF choke inductor and main DC power supply provides a dynamically modulated PA supply voltage without using a dedicated envelope amplifier. An input terminal of the network connects a main PA via an RF choke inductor to an input of low-pass filter. An output terminal is connected to the low-pass filter via an envelope choke inductor and to a direct current (DC) power supply. A DC blocker is connected between the output of the low-pass filter and ground by a termination resistor.

Wideband self-envelope tracking RF power amplifier

A method for generating a multi-band signal transforms multiple base-band envelope signals into a sequence of symbols representing a signal including a plurality of disjoint frequency bands. Each frequency band corresponds to a single base-band envelope signal. Each symbol corresponds to amplitude of the signal and is a number selected from a finite set of numbers. The method encodes the sequence of symbols as a plurality of pulse width modulation (PWM) signals. Each PWM signal includes a plurality of codes for encoding each symbol, such that a sum of values of the codes of the set of PWM signals encoding a symbol is proportional to a value of the symbol. The method amplifies the PWM signals to produce a plurality of amplified signals and combines the amplified signals to produce the multi-band signal.

System and method for generating multi-band signal

A wideband harmonic trap includes a first resonant tank in the form of a parallel LC circuit, and a second resonant tank in the form of a series LC circuit. The LC circuits are connected to a common input, an output of the parallel LC circuit is connected to a load and to ground via a shunt capacitor, and an output of the series LC circuit is connected to the ground.
