The present disclosure relates to a device and method for controlling transmission of power in a wireless power transmitting system. The present specification discloses a wireless power transmitting method comprising the steps of: performing a digital ping on each of a plurality of coil combinations formed from a plurality of primary coils; receiving a signal intensity packet of each of the coil combinations from the wireless power receiving device; and forming the magnetic coupling by operating a coil combination selected on the basis of the signal intensity packet, and transmitting wireless power to the wireless power receiving device on the basis of the magnetic coupling. Therefore, an optimal multi-coil can be rapidly selected according to the location of the wireless power receiving device.

Device and method for controlling transmission of power in wireless power transmitting system

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for supporting heterogeneous communication in a wireless power transmission system. The present disclosure discloses a wireless power receiver comprising: a power pickup unit configured to receive, from a wireless power transmitter, a digital ping signal or wireless power by magnetically coupling with the wireless power transmitter at an operating frequency, and to convert an alternating current signal generated by the wireless power into a direct current signal; a communication/control unit configured to receive the direct current signal from the power pickup unit, and to perform at least one of an in-band communication using the operating frequency and an out-band communication using a frequency other than the operating frequency; and a load configured to receive the direct current signal from the power pickup unit. As a heterogeneous communication protocol can be selected at an early stage of power transmission between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver, it is possible to support various applications of wireless power transmission.

A wireless power transmission device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a coil part including a plurality of partially overlapping coils; a coil combination generator configured to generate coil combinations including at least one of the plurality of coils; and a controller configured to transmit a coil selection signal through the coil combinations and to select an operating coil combination from the coil combinations based on a response intensity of a response signal for the coil selection signal and charging efficiency of a wireless power reception device. Accordingly, a high-efficiency charging area can be extended in partially overlapping multiple coils.

The present invention relates to a wireless power transmitting device. The wireless power transmitting device comprises a transmitter coil section with a plurality of partially overlapping transmitter coils; a fan for cooling heat generated by the transmitter coil section; and a controller for sending out a detection signal through the transmitter coil section, calculating the number of operating coils based on the strength of a response signal to the detection signal, and controlling the fan based on the calculated number of operating coils. Accordingly, heat generated by the transmitter coils can be reduced more efficiently.
