A protective film includes a first film, a second film, and a panel protective film disposed between the first film and the second film. The panel protective film includes a first portion and a second portion spaced apart from each other along a first direction. The first portion includes a first side and a second side opposite to each other along the first direction, a third side and a fourth side opposite to each other along a second direction crossing the first direction, and a first curvilinear portion connecting the second side to the fourth side, the first curvilinear portion corresponding to first respective corners of the first film and the second film and having a curved shape. The first side faces the second portion, and the first curvilinear portion is disposed inside edges of the first film and the second film at the first respective corners thereof.

Protective film, manufacturing method thereof, and method of manufacturing display device using the same

A display device includes a display panel, a protection film which faces the display panel and includes a first surface closest to the display panel and a second surface which is opposed to the first surface, a first anti-static layer which defines the first surface of the protection film, a second anti-static layer which faces the first anti-static layer and defines the second surface of the protection film, and a polyimide film between the first anti-static layer and the second anti-static layer, and an adhesive layer which forms an interface with the first surface of the protection film and attaches the protection film to the display panel.

The method includes forming a display unit including a bending area on a first surface of a mother substrate, aligning a mask in which a mask opening is defined on a second surface of the mother substrate, plasma treating the second surface of the mother substrate, removing the mask and attaching a protective film to the second surface of the mother substrate, and removing a portion of the protective film to form a film opening corresponding to the bending area. The mask opening corresponds to the bending area.
