A driving unit and a linear compressor including the same are provided. The driving unit includes an inner stator, a bobbin surrounding the inner stator in a circumferential direction, a coil wound on the bobbin, a plurality of stator cores surrounding the bobbin and spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction, and a plurality of permanent magnets disposed between the inner stator and the plurality of stator cores. A cross section of the bobbin may include a pair of straight portions facing each other and a curved portion connecting the pair of straight portions.

A linear compressor is provided. The linear compressor includes a shell, a frame disposed in the shell, the frame including a body portion and a first flange portion extending radially from a front of the body portion, a cylinder fixed to the body portion, and a piston disposed in the cylinder and configured to reciprocate axially. A linear compressor includes a frame, a cylinder disposed in the frame, a piston disposed in the cylinder and configured to reciprocate relative to the cylinder along an axis of the cylinder, a discharge valve disposed forward relative to the piston, and a discharge cover assembly coupled to the frame and disposed forward relative to the piston. The discharge cover assembly includes a discharge cover forming an inner space, a first discharge plenum disposed in the discharge cover and configured to partition the inner space into a plurality of discharge spaces, and a second discharge plenum disposed forward relative to the first discharge plenum and being in close contact with an inner surface of the discharge cover.

A reciprocating compressor includes a cylinder that defines an inner space, a piston that is located in the inner space of the cylinder and that defines a compression space configured to receive refrigerant, a discharge cover that is coupled to a side of the cylinder and that defines a discharge space configured to receive refrigerant discharged from the compression space, and a valve plate that is located at a side space defined at the side of the cylinder and that partitions the side space into the compression space and the discharge space. The valve plate defines a discharge hole through which the compression space and the discharge space communicate with each other, in which the discharge hole includes an inlet that faces the compression space and an outlet that faces the discharge space. The inlet and the outlet have different shapes.
