An apparatus and a method for scheduling and a power control of a relay system that is capable of stable operation an environment where sufficient isolation between antennas is not ensured. The apparatus includes a scheduler for allocating resources to a zone not experiencing inter-antenna interference in an initial resource allocation, classifying users based on vulnerability to the interference, and allocating resources to a zone experiencing the interference, and a power controller for setting the resources of the zone experiencing the interference to a lower power than the resources of the zone not experiencing the interference to minimize the inter-antenna interference.

Apparatus and method for scheduling in a relay system

An apparatus and method for adaptively adjusting a target Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) for Automatic Gain Control (AGC) in a full-duplex relay apparatus with an interference cancellation function. A Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) estimation block estimates an SIR based on an interference signal estimated from a received signal and an interference-cancelled signal determined by cancelling the estimated interference signal from the received signal. A target RSSI determination block determines a target RSSI according to the estimated SIR. An AGC block adjusts a gain for the received signal based on the determined target RSSI.

Automatic gain control apparatus and method in a wireless communication system

A network entry apparatus and method for a Radio Station (RS) using full duplex in a mobile communication system are provided. The method includes performing a capability negotiation procedure including a full duplex function with a BS, performing an authentication and registration procedure with the BS, and performing an operation parameter configuration procedure including a full duplex function with the BS.

Network entry apparatus and method for relay station using full duplex in mobile communication system

An apparatus and method for compensating for a phase error in a wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus includes a reception modem, a transmission modem, a Common Phase Error (CPE) compensator, a first channel estimator, a phase compensator, and a second channel estimator. The reception modem demodulates and decodes a signal received. The transmission modem encodes and modulates a signal for transmission. The CPE compensator compensates for phase errors of at least two symbols constituting a signal. The first channel estimator estimates channels for respective bursts. The phase compensator compares phases for the channels for the respective bursts with each other and compensates for a phase difference between at least two bursts. The second channel estimator estimates an interference channel.

Apparatus and method for compensating for phase error in wireless communication system

A receiving apparatus and method of a Maximum Likelihood (ML) scheme in a Single-Carrier (SC) system are provided. The apparatus includes at least two antennas, at least two Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) demodulators, at least two subcarrier mappers, at least two OFDM modulators, and a detector. The antennas receive signals. The OFDM demodulators convert the signals into frequency domain signals. The subcarrier mappers confirm signals mapped to frequency domain subcarriers. The OFDM modulators convert the signals into time domain signals. The detector constructs at least one set for candidate transmission symbols and detects receive signals through ML detection using the set.

Receiving apparatus and method for maximum likelihood in a single carrier system

An iterative tree search-based preceding method for a multi-user Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) communication system includes determining a reference value of a cumulative branch metric of a candidate symbol, eliminating candidates having values that exceed the determined reference value of the cumulative branch metric of the candidate symbol, and registering values, which do not exceed the determined reference value of the cumulative branch metric of the candidate symbol, as entries, and selecting the least value from the values registered as the entries. Thereby, the method has low complexity and similar performance compared to an existing Sphere Encoding (SE) technique.

Iterative tree search-based precoding technique for multiuser MIMO communication system

Provided is a communication system for ultra wide band impulse communication, and more particularly, to a communication apparatus and method that can be used in a sensor network or a low-rate wireless personal area network. To be more specific, the present research suggests a transmitter employing multi-coded bi-orthogonal pulse position modulation/demodulation and a method thereof. The transmitter of the present research provides: a serial-to-parallel converter for convening L-bit serial data to be transmitted into parallel data by performing grouping on the L-bit serial data; a multi-coder for generating a multi-coded symbol by multiplying the parallel data by total L orthogonal codes of length N; a bi-orthogonal pulse position modulator for positioning the multi-coded symbol in a predetermined pulse period and performing biorthogonal pulse position modulation; and a pulse generator for multiplying an output signal of the bi-orthogonal pulse position modulator by a predetermined pulse and outputting an output signal.

Apparatus and method for ultra wide band communication based on multi-coded bi-orthogonal pulse position modulation

An apparatus and a method are provided for detecting N number of TX signals in a MIMO wireless communication system. The apparatus includes an RF processor, a channel estimator, and a signal detector. The RF processor converts signals, received through multiple antennas, into baseband signals. The channel estimator estimates channel information of the respective antennas by using the received signals. The signal detector arranges the baseband signals of the respective antennas on the basis of the channel information, calculates a threshold value of each stage, and selects symbols with a cumulative metric smaller than or equal to the threshold value as candidates at each stage, to detect a TX signal vector with N number of symbols.

Apparatus and method for detecting signal based on QR-decomposition in multiple input multiple output wireless communication system

Method and apparatus for selecting an RS mode in a BWA communication system are provided. In a method for a BS to select an RS mode in a BWA communication system, bidding prices are received from a set of RSs covered by the BS. The winner RS of at least one or more auctions is determined on the basis of the bidding values and the interference information of the RS set. The winner RS is set to operate in an active mode.

Apparatus and method for selecting relay station mode in wireless communication system

Provided are a receiver and a method for detecting a signal in a multiple antenna system. The receiver includes a filter coefficient calculator and a signal detector. After separating a first signal portion and a second signal portion, the filter coefficient calculator calculates an MMSE filter coefficient using a Matrix Inversion Lemma such that an inverse matrix of the first signal portion has a predetermined constant value regardless of a repetition signal detection process. The signal detector detects a relevant transmission signal from an interference-removed reception signal using the MMSE filter coefficient.

Receiver and method for detecting signal in multiple antenna system

A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data in a Base Station (BS) of a communication system are provided. A controller determines a location of a Mobile Station (MS), and determines a transmission/reception scheme for data transmission and reception to/from the MS according to the location of the MS. A transceiver transmits and receives data to/from the MS using the determined transmission/reception scheme. Preferably, the MS is located in any one of a cell's inner region and a cell's outer region, the cell's inner region has a radius which varies according to interference between adjacent cells, and the cell's outer region is a region defined by excepting the cell's inner region from the entire cell region.

Method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data in a communication system according to a location of a mobile station

Disclosed is a system and method for transmitting feedback information in a communication system. A receiver calculates a minimum distance of each two symbol vectors among all symbol vectors which can be received through a ksubcarrier among a plurality of subcarriers, in which a channel state of the ksubcarrier and a jprecoder among precoders included in a codebook set are applied; calculates sums of minimum distances by adding minimum distances calculated for the plurality of subcarriers according to each precoder; determines a precoder corresponding to a value greatest among the sums of minimum distances calculated according to the precoders, as a precoder representing the plurality of subcarriers; and feeds the feedback information including a precoder index of the determined precoder back to a transmitter.

Apparatus and method for transmitting feedback information in communication system

An apparatus and method for interference cancellation and synchronization maintenance over interference channel estimation in a communication system are provided. An interference channel estimator fixes synchronization and estimates an interference signal. An interference signal controller eliminates the estimated interference signal from a received RF signal. A synchronization unit unfixes fixed synchronization and tracks synchronization when the interference signal cancellation is stable. A data buffer stores data from which the interference signal is canceled.

Apparatus and method for interference cancellation and synchronization maintenance over interference channel estimation in communication system based on full-duplex relay

An apparatus and method for detecting a signal in a receiver by maximum likelihood (ML) are provided, in which symbols are detected according to the number of transmit antennas of a transmitter and a modulation scheme, channels are estimated, an equivalent channel matrix corresponding to the estimated channels is determined, a permuted equivalent channel matrix is determined by multiplying the equivalent channel matrix by a predetermined permutation matrix, the permuted equivalent channel matrix is QR decomposed, a hard decision is performed on predetermined symbols among the detected symbols using a received signal resulting from the QR decomposition, and the log likelihood ratios (LLRs) of the hard-decided symbols are determined.

Apparatus and method for detecting signal by maximum likelihood

A system and method for transmitting and receiving signals in a communication system are provided, in which a BS communicates with a first MS located within an inner area of a cell during first and second time periods in TDD and communicates with a second MS located within an outer area of the cell during the first time period in FDD, and an RS detects signals transmitted between the BS and the second MS during the first time period and transmits the detected signals simultaneously to the BS and the second MS during the second time period.
