A method of stereo image display for a portable device is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining an image, tracking user's eye positions relative to a display area of the portable device, to obtain viewports of the image and view frustums for user's left and right eyes, rendering two projection images respectively for user's left and right eyes according to the view frustums and viewports of the image, and displaying the two projection images for the user.

Method of stereo image display and related device

A portable device includes a display module, an image capture module, and an eye-tracking module. The image capture module is used to capture images steadily. The eye-tracking module is used to track a user's viewpoint position relative to the portable device. Viewport within the images captured by the image capture module is adjusted in accordance with the user's viewpoint position for generating modified images displayed on the display module instantaneously. The modified images shown on the display module can fit the background scene seen by the user, and the augmented reality experience on the portable device may be improved accordingly.

Portable device and operation method for tracking user's viewpoint and adjusting viewport

A near-eye display device includes a display panel and a plurality of light modulation units. The display panel includes a plurality of display pixel units configured to emit display light. The light modulation units are disposed on a light emitting surface of the display panel, and each of the light modulation units is disposed corresponding to one of the display pixel units. Each of the light modulation units is configured to direct the display light emitted from the corresponding display pixel unit to an eye of a user, and a width of the display light directed to the eye of the user is smaller than the pupil size of the eye. The user may still receive clear images when the near-eye display is out of focus because the display light directed to the eye has the width smaller than the pupil size.

Methods, apparatus, and systems for writing a playable unfinalized disc. The method generally includes the steps of (a) recording data to the disc, (b) calculating a length of metadata based at least in part on a writing position on the disc, (c) determining a content of the metadata based at least in part on a data format and/or a disc format, and (d) recording the metadata to the disc at a position following and adjacent to the data. The apparatus generally includes (a) a disc loader configured to write data to the disc and to write metadata to the disc at a position following and adjacent to the data, and (b) a burning engine configured to send the data to the disc loader and to calculate a length of the metadata based at least in part on a writing position on the disc. The present invention advantageously allows users to view and/or share video content at any time without finalizing the disc (e.g., without recording on the lead-in area of the disc). Thus, users may append additional data to the unfinalized disc, and thereby more fully utilize space on the disc.

Methods and apparatus for creating and playing a playable unfinalized recordable disc

A parallax barrier 3D display utilizes adjustable at least one parallax barrier for having an observer always retrieve stereo vision no matter whether horizontal or vertical movements towards the parallax barrier 3D display are made. The parallax barrier is adjustable in its width and a distance from the parallax barrier 3D display, or a parallax barrier having an appropriate width or distance may be chosen from each parallax barrier set. Therefore, the observer does not have to search for sweet spots nor keep on staying at the sweet spots for retrieving stereo vision.

Method and system for determining disc format for recovery of data recording

A method for storing data in a first buffer and a second buffer is disclosed. The method includes: sequentially storing an incoming data into the first buffer and the second buffer according to a first threshold; transferring data stored in the second buffer to the first buffer when an amount of data stored in the second buffer reaches a second threshold; and driving the first buffer to output data stored therein when an amount of data stored in the first buffer exceeds the first threshold after transferred data is received from the second buffer.

Method and apparatus for optimizing data buffering

A memory module of an electrical apparatus has a normal firmware section. A method for determining correctness of program code in the memory module includes making a value stored in at least one specific address match a first rule; providing a inspection instruction; and determining whether the value stored in at least one specific address matches the first rule or not according to the inspection instruction. The electrical apparatus executes the inspection instruction at power-on in order to determine correctness of the program code in the normal firmware section.

Method for updating firmware via determining program code

A non-volatile memory is installed in an electronic device. A method for updating a firmware code stored in a non-volatile memory includes: providing an updating control unit having a command set; providing the updating control unit with a trigger signal to enable at least one command of the command set; and utilizing the updating control unit to read/write the non-volatile memory according to the enabled command to update the firmware code. Wherein each command of the command set is a memory read/write command. The method further includes updating at least one command of the command set in real time. The present invention further provides an electronic device corresponding to the method.
