A VVA-mode LCD having improved transmittance and response speed includes upper and lower substrates positioned to face each other with a predetermined distance between them; a liquid crystal layer having negative anisotropy of dielectric constant interposed between the upper and lower substrates; a color resin layer formed on the inner surface of the upper substrate and having a predetermined number of valleys regularly formed inside each unit pixel; a counter electrode formed on the color resin layer including the valleys; a pixel electrode formed on the inner surface of the lower substrate and having slits arranged about the valleys of the upper substrate in a '+' shape inside and around the valleys; and alignment layers interposed between the pixel electrode and the liquid crystal layer and between the counter electrode and the liquid crystal layer, respectively.

VVA-mode liquid crystal display

Disclosed is a vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display comprises a pixel electrode formed on a lower substrate, a counter electrode formed on an upper substrate, and a vertical alignment layer forcing liquid crystal molecules in a liquid crystal layer to be aligned in a vertical direction, wherein the counter electrode is parallelly faced to the pixel electrode while being displaced from the pixel electrode at an interval along a surface of the lower substrate or the upper substrate. Therefore, the liquid crystal display has various properties of a high contrast, a high transmittance resulting from constraint of a disclination, and a fast response speed resulting from identical alignment of the liquid crystal molecules.

Vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display

A thin film transistor liquid crystal display is capable of improving a screen quality by preventing generation of residual ions in pixels. The disclosed comprises a substrate; a plurality of gate bus lines arranged to a predetermined direction on the substrate, having a gate pad unit for applying driving signals; a plurality of data bus lines cross-arranged with the gate bus lines to define a unit pixel, having a data pad unit for applying graphic signals; a thin film transistor arranged at the intersection of the data bus lines and gate bus lines; a pixel electrode arranged in the unit pixel region to be in contact with the thin film transistor; and a plurality of common bus lines arranged parallel with the gate bus lines, having a common pad unit for regularly applying common signals to pixels; and wherein a shielding line is arranged to be in contact with the common bus line and parallel with the data bus line on the outer side of pixels adjacent to the common pad unit and gate pad unit.

Thin film transistor liquid crystal display

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display having improved screen quality by preventing abnormal light leakage due to ions in a pixel. The present invention comprises: an array substrate whereon a plurality of gate lines and data lines are arranged to be perpendicular to each other, a TFT is formed at the intersection of the lines and a pixel electrode is formed in a pixel region defined by the lines; a color filter substrate combined with the array substrate, whereon a color filter is formed corresponding to the pixel region, a block matrix is formed corresponding to the interface of pixels and a counter electrode is formed on the whole surface including the color filter and the black matrix; and a liquid crystal layer comprising a plurality of liquid crystal molecules interposed between the array substrate and the color filter substrate, wherein the pixel electrode has a rectangular shape and a plurality of acute angle Tips are formed on the edges thereof.

Liquid crystal display

A color polymer dispersed liquid crystal display includes a lower substrate, an upper substrate, color liquid crystal-polymer films, and two transparent liquid crystal driving electrodes, among others. The color liquid crystal-polymer films are formed by foaming polymer films mixed with red, green and blue pigments to form porous films of red, green, and blue colors and then dropping and injecting liquid crystal into droplets of the porous films under vacuum condition. One of the two transparent liquid crystal driving electrodes is disposed between the lower substrate and the PDLC films, and the other is disposed between the PDLC films and the upper substrate. The changes in properties of the PDLC films, which may be caused by unstable phase separation in a conventional phase separation process, are reduced, and the colors are improved.

Color polymer dispersed liquid crystal display and method for manufacture thereof

Disclosed is a LCD comprising a substrate; a signal applying unit having a gate line and a common line on the substrate; and a display unit forming a plurality of pixels with a data line, a counter electrode, a pixel electrode, a TFT and the gate line and the common line extended from the signal applying unit, wherein the pixel electrode comprises a body unit and a branch unit, the body unit being parallel to the gate line and the branch unit comprising a plurality of branches being parallel to the data line, and pixel electrode of the outmost pixel that is the most adjacent to the signal applying unit has some of branches formed on the signal applying unit.
