The present disclosure provides a terminal comprising: a socket configured to receive a security module; an NFC (Near Field Communication) unit configured to communicate with an external reader or another terminal; and a protocol identifying unit configured to supply a voltage to the security module and to identify whether the security module supports a first protocol by transmitting a signal for using the first protocol through a first contact of the security module and receiving from the security module a first information associated with a protocol supported by the security module, wherein the terminal additionally receives a second information associated with the protocol supported by the security module through a second contact of the security module, and wherein the NFC unit receives a information from the security module through the first contact based on the first protocol identified by the protocol identifying unit, and transmits the received information to the external reader or another terminal.

Near field communication apparatus and method for supporting security modules

Disclosed herein are an external device for a mobile communication terminal, which enables non-contact NFC with the outside through a Near Field Communication (NFC) unit, and an NFC method using the external device. The external device for a mobile communication terminal includes a serial communication unit, an NFC unit, a smart card unit and an antenna. The serial communication unit is connected to a mobile communication terminal body through a connector. The NFC unit communicates with the mobile communication terminal body through the serial communication unit and communicates with the outside via non-contact NFC. The smart card unit communicates with the NFC unit. The antenna is configured such that the NFC unit transmits/receives signals via non-contact NFC through the antenna.

External device for mobile communication terminal and NFC method using the same

A secure NFC apparatus includes a plug-in socket, an NFC unit, and a protocol matching unit. A security module is inserted in the plug-in socket. The NFC unit communicates with the outside via non-contact NFC using signals based on an S2C protocol. The protocol matching unit determines the type of chip in the inserted security module, generates a chip identification signal according to results of the identification, and matches the protocol of the signals based on the S2C protocol, which are input to and output from the NFC unit, with the protocol of the signals, which are input to and output from the security module, according to the chip identification signal.

Secure NFC apparatus and method supporting various security modules in plug-in fashion

Disclosed herein are a secure Near Field Communication (NFC) apparatus and method for supporting various security modules. The NFC apparatus includes an NFC unit, a protocol conversion unit and a security module. The NFC unit transmits information corresponding to a first signal based on a first protocol via non-contact NFC and generates a second signal based on the first protocol from information received via non-contact NFC. The protocol conversion unit converts a signal based on a second protocol into a first signal based on the first protocol and converts the second signal based on the first protocol into a signal based on the second protocol. The security module receives and outputs signals based on the second protocol.
