According to an example, signal transmissions by a first antenna apparatus and a second antenna apparatus connected to a central processing apparatus through an Ethernet switch may be synchronized with respect to each other. An Ethernet packet containing first data and second data may be generated, in which the first antenna apparatus is to wirelessly transmit the first data and the second antenna apparatus is to wirelessly transmit the second data. In addition, the Ethernet packet may be communicated to the Ethernet switch, in which the Ethernet switch includes a first port that is in communication with the first antenna apparatus and a second port that is in communication with the second antenna apparatus, and the Ethernet switch is to communicate the Ethernet packet through the first port and a copy of the Ethernet packet through the second port substantially simultaneously with respect to each other.

Synchronizing signal transmissions by antenna apparatuses

Data is transmitted over a wireless network by encoding data using a rateless code. A multi-cast signal is wirelessly transmitted to communicate the encoded data for any one or more receivers. The wireless transmission is performed in a manner that is agnostic as to a number of antennas that are utilized by each of the one or more receivers.

According to an example, a distributed antenna system includes a central processing apparatus and a plurality of antenna apparatuses connected to the central processing apparatus via Ethernet cables through an Ethernet switch. The plurality of antenna apparatuses are spatially distributed with respect to each other and the central processing apparatus is to communicate Ethernet packets to the plurality of antenna apparatuses. In addition, the plurality of antenna apparatuses are to wirelessly transmit signals corresponding to data contained in the Ethernet packets in a substantially coordinated and synchronized manner with respect to each other.

A prioritization is determined amongst a group of receivers for receiving signals transmitted from the wireless transmitter, without use of accurate channel state information. A signal is transmitted to each receiver based on an order that is determined by the prioritization. The method includes capturing packets based at least on a common source IP address shared by each of the packets, where said each packet is assigned a source timestamp by a source of said each packet and further assigned a capture timestamp by a packet capturing device, identifying a first portion of the packets as a first flow and a second portion of the packets as a second flow, extracting a first monotonic timestamp-pair (MTSP) sequence and a second MTSP sequence from the first flow and the second flow, respectively, comparing the first MTSP sequence and the second MTSP sequence to generate a result, and determining, based on the result, whether the first flow and the second flow are generated by a single host of the network.

A method for detecting a malicious network activity. The method includes extracting, based on a pre-determined criterion, a plurality of protection phase feature sequences extracted from a first plurality of network traffic sessions exchanged during a protection phase between a server device and a first plurality of client devices of a network, comparing the plurality of protection phase feature sequences and a plurality of profiling phase feature sequences to generate a comparison result, where the plurality of profiling phase feature sequences were extracted from a second plurality of network traffic sessions exchanged during a profiling phase prior to the protection phase between the server device and a second plurality of client devices of the network, and generating, in response to detecting a statistical measure of the comparison result exceeding a pre-determined threshold, an alert indicating the malicious network activity.

Application-level DDoS detection using service profiling

A wireless access point includes a wireless interface to send or receive frames in a cell in a wireless network. A storage device stores a cell ID that uniquely identifies the wireless access point. Processing circuitry inserts the cell ID in a physical layer header of a frame, and sends the frame to a client device in the cell via the wireless interface.

In an example, packets transmitted over a communication channel from a transmitter are received. Channel state information (CSI) from the received packets are obtained and signal-to-noise (SNR) values of the communication channel are computed based on the obtained CSI. In addition, effective bit error rate (BER) values are determined based on the SNR values, a coherence time period within which the effective BER values of the communication channel remain within a predetermined range is determined, a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) to be implemented by the transmitter is determined based on the effective BER values within the coherence time period, and the determined MCS is transmitted to the transmitter.

The method includes obtaining a plurality of failed domain name service (DNS) queries from the network, wherein each of the plurality of failed DNS queries is initiated from a client node of the network and comprises an effective second-level domain (eSLD) name, generating, by a computer processor and using a pre-determined clustering algorithm, a cluster from a plurality of eSLD names comprising the eSLD name of each of the plurality of failed DNS queries, wherein the cluster comprises a portion of the plurality of eSLD names that is selected based on the pre-determined clustering algorithm, determining, by the computer processor and using a pre-determined formula, a score representing statistical characteristics of the cluster, and assigning, in response to the score meeting a pre-determined criterion, a malicious status to the client node.

Detecting suspicious network behaviors based on domain name service failures

The present disclosure is directed to networks having reduced power consumption characteristics and associated methods. In one aspect, a method for reducing power consumption in a multi-hop network can include receiving data at a plurality of primary nodes in a multi-hop network and transmitting the data from the plurality of primary nodes to a plurality of secondary nodes. Individual primary nodes have nearest neighbors at a defined distance and the secondary nodes are spaced at a distance that is greater than the defined distance away from individual primary nodes. Data is transmitted from a given primary node to a secondary node by skipping at least one intervening node and reducing power consumption of the wireless network.

Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to utilizing client mobile devices for wireless network monitoring. Link quality data for wireless networks are measured by a plurality of wireless client devices and are provided to a network controller. The link quality data is usable to manage a wireless local area network (WLAN). The wireless networks include at least the WLAN and a cellular network. A recommendation for connection is provided to the wireless client devices, where the recommendation indicates if the cellular network is recommended or an access point of the WLAN.
