A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a gate line disposed on the first substrate and extending parallel to a major horizontal reference line of the display, and a plurality of pixel unit cells disposed on and tesslating a display area of the first substrate where each unit cell includes a first field generating electrode and a second field generating electrode with an insulating layer interposed therebetween, wherein a first one of the first and second field generating electrodes has a plurality of cutouts defined therein for producing corresponding liquid crystal domains, the plurality of cutouts each including a first inclined edge portion forming a first angle with the vertical reference line and a second inclined edge portion forming a second angle with the vertical reference line that is different from the first angle.

A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a gate line disposed on the first substrate and extending parallel to a major horizontal reference line of the display, and a plurality of pixel unit cells disposed on and tessellating a display area of the first substrate where each unit cell includes a first field generating electrode and a second field generating electrode with an insulating layer interposed therebetween, wherein a first one of the first and second field generating electrodes has a plurality of cutouts defined therein for producing corresponding liquid crystal domains, the plurality of cutouts each including a first inclined edge portion forming a first angle with the vertical reference line and a second inclined edge portion forming a second angle with the vertical reference line that is different from the first angle, wherein a ratio of a length of the first inclined edge portion to a length of the cutout is about 80% or more, and the density of the plurality of pixels is about 200 PPI or more.

A display device may include a first layer, a passivation layer, and a pixel. The passivation layer may overlap the first layer and may include a first passivation portion and a second passivation portion. The pixel may include a first-color filter, a first-color-corresponding electrode, a second-color filter, and a second-color-corresponding electrode. The first-color-corresponding electrode may overlap the first-color filter and may be positioned between the first layer and the first passivation portion. The second-color-corresponding electrode may overlap the second-color filter. The second passivation portion may be positioned between the first layer and the second-color-corresponding electrode.

A liquid crystal display includes a plurality of pixels including first, second and third pixels that display different colors and are sequentially disposed, a plurality of data lines including first, second and third data lines sequentially and repeatedly disposed where the first data line is disposed between the third pixel and the first pixel, the second data line is disposed between the first pixel and the second pixel, and the third data line is disposed between the second pixel and the third pixel, widths of the first, second and third data lines are substantially the same as each other, and a first interval between the first data line and the second data line is different from a second interval between the second data line and the third data line or a third interval between the third data line and the first data line.

A liquid crystal display includes: a gate line including a gate electrode; a data line including a source electrode; a drain electrode; an organic layer on the gate and data lines and the drain electrode, and a first opening defined therein; a first electrode on the organic layer, and a second opening defined therein; and a passivation layer on the first electrode, and a contact hole defined therein exposing the drain electrode. A thin film transistor is provided as follows. A first gate electrode and a second gate electrode are stacked on each other. A connection electrode connects electrically the first gate electrode and the second gate electrode. A first insulating film is interposed between the first gate electrode and the semiconductor layer. A second insulating film includes a first part interposed between the semiconductor layer and the second gate electrode and a second part interposed between the second gate electrode and the drain electrode. A third insulating film includes a first part interposed between the connection electrode and the second gate electrode.

Thin film transistor and method of manufacturing the same

A display device including a substrate, a plurality of data lines disposed on the substrate, a first color filter disposed between a first data line and a second data line that are adjacent to each other among the data lines, a first dummy color filter configured to overlap a third data line that is adjacent to the first data line, be separated from the first color filter, and display a same color as that of the first color filter, and a second color filter disposed at a region between the first data line and the third data line and configured to display a color different from that of the first color filter. A thickness of the first dummy color filter is smaller than that of the first color filter, and the second color filter is disposed on the first dummy color filter.

The present invention relates to a display device, and a manufacturing method thereof. The display device includes a first insulation substrate; gate lines and data lines positioned on the first insulating substrate. The gate lines and data lines are insulated from each other and crossed each other. A first passivation layer positioned on the gate lines and the data lines, and including a first contact opening. A color filter positioned on the first passivation layer, and including an opening. An organic insulation layer positioned on the color filter, and including a contact hole, in which the first contact opening is larger than the opening. The organic insulation layer covers the color filter and the contact opening.
