A communication apparatus and a method for supporting carrier sense multiple access/collision detection (CSMA/CD) are disclosed. In a home network having a plurality of peripheral apparatuses in one home bus, the communication apparatus includes an interface circuit for transmitting and receiving packet data by being connected to the home bus; a data transmitting circuit for converting transmission data generated from inner peripheral apparatuses into physical transmission data and then for outputting the data on the home bus through the interface circuit; a data receiving circuit for determining whether data transmitted from other peripheral apparatuses through the interface circuit are received in its own peripheral apparatus and for checking a current state of the home bus; a collision detection circuit for continuously detecting a current state of the home bus through the data receiving circuit; and a communication controlling part for controlling data which are output form the data transmitting circuit by detecting a state of the home bus detected from the collision detection circuit.

A method for separating multiple home networks networked in one communication line into each home network is disclosed, which includes the steps of forming home network for networking apparatuses in the house to communicate with one another, setting individual home codes to each apparatus, connecting the home networks formed in a plurality of houses to one another, and forming packet data including the home codes for communicating.

A home network system is disclosed, which includes a remote control server for controlling transmitting/receiving data at a long distance by WEB server connected to an external PC or WAP server connected to a communication terminal and by home network; an internal PC at home; and a network controller connected to the internal PC by wire or wireles network, for providing a user interface of a graphic user interface (GUI) type to a browser of the internal PC, monitoring and controlling the network appliance according to user control command by the user interface, the browser and the remote control server, and transmitting results to the internal PC and the remote control server.

A method for setting a product address in a home network system is disclosed. The method includes a step for requesting a temporary address in which a network controller designates redundant addresses with a predetermined range to each product and requests an arbitrary address among the redundant address as a temporary address; a step for designating a temporary address in which each product designates an arbitrary address among the redundant addresses as a temporary address and informs to a network controller; and a step for confirming an address in which the network controller sequentially sets one of the redundant addresses for each address not doubled among informed temporary addresses from each product.
