A personal information system is provided. The system may include a portable information device having a housing including a top surface defined at least partially by a display, a bottom surface configured with a central region in which an optical sensor, electrical connector, and data connector are positioned, the housing enclosing an internal volume in which a processor is provided, the top surface and bottom surface being coupled by a perimeter side edge extending therebetween, and a mounting structure formed at least partially around the perimeter side edge of the housing. The system may further include a frame, which may be connected to a band, the frame surrounding a void and configured to receive the mounting structure, the frame and mounting structure being releasably securable via a tongue and groove connection. The system may further comprise a dock to which the information device may be connected.

Augmented reality and physical game techniques are described. In one or more implementations, an indication is received by a computing device of a location of a physical gaming piece of a game. An augmentation is computed based on the indication by the computing device to be displayed as part of the game. The augmentation is displayed by the computing device on a display device that is at least partially transparent such that a physical portion of the game is viewable through the display device concurrently with the augmentation.

In embodiments of transparent display interaction, a portable device includes a handheld base movably coupled to a display device. The display device includes a display panel system that displays an image, and includes display surfaces through which the image is viewable. The image may appear as being projected into an environment behind the display device and viewable through the display surfaces of the display device. The display device is also configurable to open relative the handheld base to a position that the environment is viewable through the display device.

An electronic device stand comprises mechanically coupled first and second members. The stand is couplable to an edge of an electronic device. The first and second members rotate relative to each other, thus changing a viewing angle for the electronic device. The stand transmits data and power to and/or from the electronic device. This can allow the stand to be used to synchronize data between the electronic device and a support device. In some cases, the stand is detected as being coupled to the electronic device, and one or more applications are executed on the device as a result of the detection.

An earphone comprises an inner shell, a stem and a pivot connection. The inner shell has a generally circular periphery shaped to at least partially fit in a user's concha. The stem is mounted to the inner shell at a position spaced from a rotational center of the inner shell and supports a wire leading to the inner shell. The inner shell and the stem are rotatable relative to each other by the pivot connection to configure the earphone to fit the user's ear with the shell member positioned at least partially in the user's concha and the stem positioned exteriorly along an intertragic notch of the ear.
