Provided are a method for preparing a carbon material using a polyolefin-based plastic, which includes a step of dissolving a polyolefin-based plastic in a solvent and then precipitating to obtain a polyolefin-based polymer having, for example, a powder or film shape, a step of crosslinking and cyclizing the precipitated polyolefin-based polymer to stabilize the polyolefin-based polymer and to cleave linear bonding of the polyolefin-based polymer, and a step of carbonizing the stabilized polyolefin-based polymer and a carbon material prepared according to this method. According to this method, it is possible to convert polyolefin-based plastics, particularly polyolefin-based waste plastics, into high-quality carbon materials having high heat-generating properties and a high electrical conductivity by a simple and efficient process.

A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack that produces electric power and water through an electro-chemical reaction of hydrogen and air. A controller of the fuel cell system calculates an amount of water in the fuel cell stack based on output power of the fuel cell stack and a maximum amount of residual water to which the amount of water in the fuel cell stack converges over time. The fuel cell system may detect the amount of water in the fuel cell stack in real time.

A fuel cell stack includes: a separator comprising channels and lands alternately repeated; and a gas diffusion layer in contact with the separator for transferring gas to a membrane-electrode assembly. The gas diffusion layer has a fiber arrangement structure having a predetermined directionality beneath the lands adjacent to opposite lateral sides of the channels based on a central portion of the channels to guide a transfer passage of the gas.
