There is provided a radio telephone having an arcuate support ( ) positioned at an upper portion ( ) of the radio telephone's housing ( ) for attachment to a loop-shaped object, such as a belt loop, bag strap and the like. The arcuate support ( ) includes a first section ( ) that is stationary relative to the housing ( ), and a second section ( ) that pivots away from the first section ( ) to open the support ( ) and returns back to the first section ( ) to close the support ( ). Depending upon the embodiment of the radio telephone, the arcuate support ( ) may open by moving the second section ( ) inward from the first section ( ), outward from the first section ( ) or both inward and outward relative to the first section ( ). In addition, an antenna ( ) for the radio telephone may be positioned within the arcuate support ( ) to provide protection for the antenna ( ) and maintain the antenna ( ) at a desired position above the radio telephone.
