A base station may transmit beams to user equipment. The user equipment may receive the beams and transmit a signal to a base station. The base station may determine signal characteristics associated with the beams based on the signal and compare the signal characteristics with predefined signal characteristics that correspond to potential locations of the user equipment. Based on this comparison, the base station may determine a position of the user equipment and transmit a targeted beam based on the position of the user equipment. The base station may also track the position of the user equipment and provide an updated targeted beam based on an updated position of the user equipment. Accordingly, the base station may efficiently form and update the targeted beam based on the predefined signal characteristics, thereby reducing an amount of time required to establish and maintain communication with the user equipment.

A method of controlling power in a transmission system may include determining a first transmit power of a first transmit path, determining a second transmit power of a second transmit path, and controlling the first transmit path and the second transmit path based on a combination of the first transmit power and the second transmit power. The combination of the first transmit power and the second transmit power may include a sum of the first transmit power and the second transmit power. Controlling the first transmit path and the second transmit path may include determining a first effective power target for the first transmit path based on the first transmit power and the second transmit power, and determining a second effective power target for the second transmit path based on the first transmit power and the second transmit power.

Systems, methods, and apparatus for combined power control of multiple transmit paths

A beamforming vector for a communication link between a first device and a second device may be determined by searching, based on a signal from the second device, a hierarchical beamforming codebook including a plurality of beamforming vectors occupying a plurality of levels. The plurality of beamforming vectors may include a first beamforming vector and a second beamforming vector occupying a first level of the hierarchical beamforming codebook. The first beamforming vector may have a first angular range while the second beamforming vector may have a second angular range. Beam alignment with active learning

Devices and methods of providing joint scheduling in a full-duplex LTE system are generally described. The UE measures intra-cell interference at the UE caused by a UL transmission from each intra-cell UE, calculates a ratio of the intra-cell interference over an average inter-cell interference, determines whether the intra-cell UE is an aggressor or non-aggressor based on whether the ratio exceeds a threshold, transmits at least some of the determinations to the eNB as feedback, and communicates with the eNB based on a schedule that is dependent on the feedback such that the UE is neither an aggressor nor is subject to interference from aggressors. The schedule may also be based on wideband CQI feedback based on a ratio of an average overall DL interference plus noise over the average inter-cell interference plus noise and/or subband CQI feedback based on SINR measurements.
