A thermoplastic resin composition with improved impact resistance can include (A) about 30 to about 99 parts by weight of an epoxy group-containing styrenic polymer comprising (A) about 5 to about 100% by weight of an epoxy group-containing vinyl copolymer containing about 0.001 to about 5.0 mol % of an epoxy compound; and (A) about 0 to about 95% by weight of a rubber modified styrenic copolymer resin; (B) about 1 to about 70 parts by weight of a polyester resin; (C) about 0.001 to about 10 parts by weight of a silicone oil, per 100 parts by weight of a base resin comprising (A) and (B); (D) about 3 to about 20 parts by weight of a bromine-containing flame retardant, per 100 parts by weight of a base resin comprising (A) and (B); and (E) about 0.1 to about 6 parts by weight of a flame retardant aid, per 100 parts by weight of a base resin comprising (A) and (B).

Thermoplastic resin composition having improved impact resistance

A mixture of brominated diphenylethanes is prepared by brominating diphenylethanes, comprises hexabromodiphenylethane, heptabromodiphenylethane and octabromodiphenylethane, comprises about 55 to about 85% by weight hexabromodiphenylethane, and comprises about 0.01 to about 30% by weight diphenylethanes substituted with an odd number of bromines. The mixture of brominated diphenylethanes can provide improved compatibility with polymer resins, as well as impart excellent flame retardancy and improved weatherability and thermal stability.

Mixtures of brominated diphenylethanes, method of preparing the same and resin composition using the same

A flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a rubber-modified aromatic vinyl copolymer resin (A) and about 10 to about 30 parts by weight of a brominated diphenyl ethane mixture (B) including about 55 to about 85% by weight of hexabromodiphenyl ethane. The rubber modified aromatic vinyl copolymer resin (A) according to the present invention is a polymer resin wherein grafted rubbery polymers are dispersed in the form of particles in a matrix of vinyl copolymer. The rubber-modified aromatic vinyl copolymer resin (A) includes grafted rubbery polymers in an amount of about 10 to about 100% by weight and the matrix of vinyl copolymer in an amount of about 0 to about 90% by weight. The brominated diphenyl ethane mixture (B) may have about 1 to about 25% by weight of diphenyl ethane having an odd number of bromine substituents.

Flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition

The flame-retardant high impact vinyl aromatic resin composition of the present invention comprises (A) about 100 parts by weight of a rubber modified vinyl aromatic resin; (B) about 1 to about 30 parts by weight of a brominated diphenyl ethane mixture; and (C) about 1 to about 10 parts by weight of antimony oxide. The resin composition can have excellent fluidity as well as high impact strength and can provide a flame-retardant high impact vinyl aromatic resin composition having excellent workability and mechanical properties.

Flame-retardant high impact vinyl aromatic resin composition having good fluidity

A thermoplastic resin composition that can have improved flowability of the present invention comprises (A) about 1 to about 98% by weight of a functional group-containing vinyl copolymer resin reactive with polyester; (B) about 1 to about 98% by weight of an aromatic vinyl graft copolymer resin; (C) about 1 to about 98% by weight of a polyester resin; and (D) about 0.5 to about 30 parts by weight of a bromodiphenyl ethane mixture, based on the total weight of a base resin comprising (A), (B) and (C). The resin composition of the present invention can have flame retardancy, excellent impact resistance, and improved flowablity.

Thermoplastic resin composition having improved flowability

A thermoplastic resin composition can include (A) about 30 to about 99 parts by weight of an epoxy group-containing styrenic polymer comprising (A) about 5 to about 100% by weight of an epoxy group-containing vinyl copolymer and (A) about 0 to about 95% by weight of a rubber modified styrenic copolymer resin; and (B) about 1 to about 70 parts by weight of a polyester resin. The resin composition may further comprise (C) about 3 to about 20 parts by weight of a bromine-containing flame retardant, per 100 parts by weight of a base resin comprising (A) and (B); and (D) about 0.1 to about 6 parts by weight of a flame retardant aid, per 100 parts by weight of a base resin comprising (A) and (B).

Thermoplastic resin composition having improved impact resistance, color development and good flame-retardance

A brominated diphenyl ethane mixture of the present invention comprises about 0 to about 2% by weight of pentabromodiphenyl ethane, about 55 to 85% by weight of hexabromodiphenyl ethane, about 1 to 20% by weight of heptabromodiphenyl ethane, about 1 to 25% by weight of octabromodiphenyl ethane, about 0 to about 10% by weight of nonabromodiphenyl ethane, and about 0 to about 5% by weight of decabromodephenyl ethane. The brominated diphenyl ethane mixture can be added to thermoplastic resin as a flame retardant, can exhibit excellent compatibility with thermoplastic resins, can minimize the generation of environmental problems, and can obtain excellent impact resistance, thermal stability, weatherability and flowability as well as improved flame resistance.

Brominated diphenyl ethane mixtures and resin compositions including the same

A flame resistant thermoplastic resin composition having improved impact resistance and chemical resistance is provided. The flame resistant thermoplastic resin composition includes about 100 parts by weight of a base resin; about 3 to about 20 parts by weight of a halogen-containing flame retardant (C); and about 0.1 to about 6 parts by weight of an antimony-containing flame retarding aid (D). The base resin includes about 20 to about 99% by weight of an epoxy group-containing rubber modified aromatic vinyl based resin (A) comprising about 1 to about 99% by weight of an epoxy-containing rubber modified aromatic vinyl based copolymer (Al), about 1 to about 99% by weight of an epoxy-containing vinyl copolymer (A2), and about 0 to about 98% by weight of an aromatic vinyl based copolymer (A3), and about 1 to about 80% by weight of a polyester resin (B).
