Techniques for using a data confidence index are presented herein. In one embodiment, a method includes maintaining, by a server system, confidence index values corresponding to a set of computing assets that are available to the server system to provide a computing service over a network to remote client devices. The confidence index values are indicative of a readiness of the corresponding computing assets in providing the computing service. The method further includes receiving from a first client device a request for a computing resource associated with the computing service and comparing one or more first confidence index values for a first computing asset of the set of computing assets to one or more second confidence index values for a second computing asset of the set of computing assets. The method also includes selecting data from the one of the first computing asset of second computing asset having confidence index values indicating a greater readiness for providing data and using the selected data to respond to the request.

Method and apparatus for a data confidence index

Techniques for providing a data confidence index are presented herein. In one embodiment, a method includes setting a default confidence index for a remote computing device, the confidence index indicating trustworthiness of data provided by the remote computing device, the remote computing device operating as part of a network of cooperating devices; applying a plurality of ordered rules for the remote computing device, respective rules comprising a rule pre-condition and a confidence index adjustment, respective rules considering one of a behavior of the remote computing device and a property of the remote computing device; and adjusting the confidence index for the remote computing device responsive to results of applying the plurality of ordered rules. A system and apparatus substantially perform steps of the disclosed method.

A computer-implemented method for handling component-object-model communications. The method may include identifying a request to instantiate a component-object-model object through a remote-procedure-call process. The component-object-model object may be associated with an out-of-process component-object-model server registered in a first environment. The remote-procedure-call process may be running in a second environment with a different registry than the first environment. The method may also include allowing the remote-procedure-call process to access the first environment. Corresponding systems and computer-readable media are also disclosed.
