Due to massive available spectrum in the millimeter wave (mmWave) bands, cellular systems in these frequencies may provide orders of magnitude greater capacity than networks in conventional lower frequency bands. However, due to high susceptibility to blocking, mmWave links can be extremely intermittent in quality. This combination of high peak throughputs and intermittency can cause significant challenges in end-to-end transport-layer mechanisms such as TCP, such as the challenging problem of bufferbloat. Specifically, with current buffering and congestion control mechanisms, high throughput-high variable links can lead to excessive buffers incurring long latency. A dynamic receive window approach addresses the problem of bufferbloat.

Exemplary communication apparatus can comprise a receiver; a computer arrangement; and a non-transitory medium comprising computer-executable instructions that cause the apparatus to: receive a signal comprising a plurality of symbols in a first domain; store a portion of the signal comprising at least one symbol in a buffer; determine a frequency offset parameter relating to the buffered portion; apply a correction signal based on the offset parameter to the buffered portion to generate an at least partially corrected signal in the first domain; and transform the at least partially corrected signal into a second domain. In some embodiments, the first domain is a time domain, the second domain is a frequency domain, and the symbols are OFDM symbols. The corrected signal can be further transformed into a third domain. Further, exemplary methods and computer-readable media can be provided embodying one or more procedures the apparatus is configured to perform.

System and method for mitigating frequency offsets in wireless systems

Techniques for efficiently sending reports in a wireless communication system are described. Reports may be sent repetitively in accordance with a reporting format. A terminal receives an assignment of a control channel used to send reports and determines a reporting format to use based on the assignment. The reporting format indicates a specific sequence of reports sent in specific locations of a control channel frame. The terminal generates a set of reports for each reporting interval and arranges the set of reports in accordance with the reporting format. The terminal repetitively sends a plurality of sets of reports in a plurality of reporting intervals. Reports may also be sent adaptively based on operating conditions. An appropriate reporting format may be selected based on the operating conditions of the terminal, which may be characterized by environment (e.g., mobility), capabilities, QoS, and/or other factors.

Efficient reporting of information in a wireless communication system

Methods and apparatus for communicating transmission backlog information are described. Reporting control factors are utilized to expand reporting possibilities for a fixed bit size request report. At least one report control factor is determined as a function of channel quality information, power information, device capability information, and/or quality of service information. A transmission backlog report value is interpreted as a function of a reporting control factor. A wide range of quantization schemes for reporting transmission backlog information are facilitated corresponding to a small bit size report. A communications device can adaptively select a quantization request level closely matched to its current needs such as to provide an accurate representation of its current traffic channel resource needs. A communications device may request a number of frames in a request report and the same report may be indirectly requesting a number of communications segments needed to clear its transmission backlog.

Methods and apparatus for communicating transmission backlog information

Systems, apparatus, methods and computer program products are provided. In some embodiments, a method for facilitating interference management in an unplanned wireless communication system is provided. The method can include a non-serving base station obtaining information about a user equipment served by a serving base station; and determining signal information based, at least, in part, on the information. The method can also include the non-serving base station disallowing access to the user equipment due to restricted access rules for the non-serving base station. The method can also include the non-serving base station performing interference management of the user equipment served by the serving base station. The interference management can be performed based, at least, in part, on the determined signal information.

Systems, apparatus and methods for interference management in wireless networks

The present disclosure relates to a computer-implemented method for estimating a communication channel response, comprising procedures such as: receiving, via the channel, a signal comprising a plurality of symbols, each comprising a plurality of sub-carriers; determining a pilot sub-carrier response and a pilot sub-carrier metric for one or more pilot sub-carriers; and for one or more non-pilot sub-carriers: i) determining a non-pilot sub-carrier metric; ii) if the non-pilot sub-carrier metric satisfies a criterion, determining a particular component (e.g., real or imaginary) of a non-pilot sub-carrier response as a function of different components of one or more pilot sub-carrier responses; and iii) if the non-pilot sub-carrier metric does not satisfy the criterion, determine the particular component of the non-pilot sub-carrier response as a function of the particular component of one or more pilot sub-carrier responses. Other embodiments include a communication apparatus and a computer-readable medium configurable to perform such procedures.

System and method for providing channel equalization in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless systems

A wireless terminal receives a broadcast uplink interference report request conveying a requested report type and/or a locally unique base station identifier. The wireless terminal receives and measures broadcast reference signals, e.g., beacon and/or pilot signals, transmitted from a plurality of base station attachment points. Specific type interference reports relate a current serving connection base station attachment point to a selected base station attachment point corresponding to the received base station identifier. Generic type interference reports relate a current serving base station connection attachment point to other unspecified base station attachment points whose broadcast reference signals have been detected by the wireless terminal. Sub-types of generic reports include summation function and maximum function reports. Timing information is sometimes used to determine report sub-type and/or sector type of the selected attachment point. The wireless terminal generates the requested report and transmits it to the current connection attachment point.
