A non-volatile dual in-line memory module (NVDIMM) instantiates first and second partitions of non-volatile memory. The first partition is reserved and is not accessible to an operating system, and the second partition is accessible to the operating system. A processor may generate information uniquely associated with an information handling system and write the information to the first partition.

System and method for tying non-volatile dual inline memory modules to a particular information handling system

A support information provisioning system a support device, an external device; and a customer device. The customer device includes an external connector and a remote access controller device that is coupled to the external connector. In situations where the customer device is experiencing at least one customer device issue that prevents the customer device from provisioning support information related to the operation of the customer device, the remote access controller device operates to detect that the external device has been connected to the external connector and, in response, automatically cause new support information about that customer device to be generated. When the external device is subsequently connected to the support device, it may then provide that new support information to the support device for analysis.

A BIOS setting modification system is provided in a computing device. During a computing device runtime for the computing device, an Out-Of-Band (OOB) controller device receives a first BIOS setting modification request and, in response, generates first BIOS setting modification information and causes the transmission of a System Management Interrupt (SMI). During the computing device runtime for the computing device, an SMI handler subsystem in the computing device retrieves, in response to the SMI, the first BIOS setting modification information, either directly from the OOB controller device, or from a storage subsystem in which it was provided by the OOB controller device. The SMI handler subsystem then applies the first BIOS setting modification information to at least one subsystem in the computing device such that a first BIOS setting modification provided by the first BIOS setting modification information takes effect during the computing device runtime for the computing device.

Systems and methods are provided that may be implemented to control inventory and/or server operations at a remote information handling system based on indirect characteristics of user input signals provided by a user to a client information handling system, and relayed to a server information handling system. Indirect characteristics of user input signals may include, but are not limited to, a pattern of mouse or touchpad pointer movements made on a given webpage, duration of time spent by a user on a given webpage, etc. Inventory and server operations that may be controlled based on monitored indirect user input signal characteristics include, but are not limited to, change of status or movement of inventory between locations and/or a change in the amount of inventory maintained at a given remote location, altering the amount of inventory reserved for future purchase and delivery, and altering duration time and/or expiration date of a limited-time reduced price offer.

Systems and methods of using indirect user input signal characteristics to control inventory and/or server operations

Log storage and retrieval systems include a chassis housing a first motherboard with a first Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and a first remote access controller device located on the first motherboard and coupled to the first SPI. An off-motherboard SPI storage device is connected to the first SPI, and when the first remote access controller device determines that log entries have been generated, it automatically copies the log entries to the off-motherboard SPI storage device via the first SPI. A second motherboard includes a second SPI that couples to the off-motherboard SPI storage device when the second motherboard replaces the first motherboard in the chassis. A second remote access controller device located on the second motherboard and coupled to the second SPI will then retrieve the log entries that were automatically copied to the off-motherboard SPI storage device, and send the log entries through a network to a support device.

An information handling system includes gift selection circuitry, buying circuitry, and a graphical user interface. The gift selection circuitry includes a selection processing device, and a delivery processing device. The selection processing device receives, from a user, a request to add a list of items to a cart. The delivery processing device provides a secure link to a designated individual after the list of items is added to the cart. The graphical user interface displays the items in the cart as a list of available items in response to the secure link being selected by the designated individual. The buying circuitry confirms an order of a first item after selection of the first item from the list of available items, and sends a notification of completion of the transaction to the user.

System and methods for collaborative purchasing in an information handling system

An information handling system (IHS) includes controller that performs a method of automating acquisition of link local Internet Protocol (IP) network address of servers. Controller acts as Group manager server (GMS) that maintains an inventory of a respective link local Internet Protocol (IP) network address and public key of each server that is addressable over a local area network (LAN). GMS receives an IP network address and credentials associated with a management console that are used to obtain a public key from the management console. GMS transmits to the management console a GMS IP network address and public key associated with the GMS. GMS encrypts the inventory with the public key of the management console to generate an encrypted inventory. GMS transmits the IP network address and the public key of the management console to each server. GMS forwards the encrypted inventory to the management console to enable secure communication.

An automated firewall-compliant customer support resolution provisioning system includes a customer support system coupled to a customer device. The customer support system receives a first secure request from the customer device that identifies an event in the customer device and, in response, sends a first secure response through a firewall subsystem to the customer device within a first timeout period enforced by the firewall subsystem. The customer support system then determines event resolution information for the event. Subsequent to the first timeout period and based on the first secure response, the customer device sends a second secure request to the customer support system requesting the event resolution and the customer support system sends the event resolution information through the firewall subsystem to the customer device within a second timeout period enforced by the firewall subsystem. The customer device then utilizes the event resolution information to address the event.

An information handling system includes a non-volatile memory device for storing basic input-output system (BIOS) firmware. The system also includes a service processor that is coupled to the first non-volatile memory. The service processor initiates access to the first non-volatile memory, and stores configuration information at the non-volatile memory device. The configuration information can include Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Human Interface Infrastructure (HII) strings.

An information handling system includes storage drives, a first storage controller configured to map to a first subset of the storage drives, a second storage controller configured to map to a second subset of the storage drives different from the first subset, and a BMC. The BMC directs the storage controllers to detect storage traffic to the first and second subsets of storage drives, compares the storage traffic from the storage controllers, and remaps the first storage controller to map storage transactions on a third subset of the storage drives different from the first subset when the comparison indicates that the first storage traffic is greater than the second storage traffic.

System and method to detect storage controller workloads and to dynamically split a backplane

A first firmware volume of a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) compliant information handling system is accessed. Authentication information is retrieved from the first firmware volume using a UEFI Secure Architecture Protocol. Based on the authentication information, it is determined if the first firmware volume is a first type of firmware volume. If the first firmware volume is the first type of firmware volume, the first firmware volume is authenticated using the first authentication information and an authentication procedure other than Secure Boot authentication. If the first firmware volume is a second type of firmware volume, the second type different than the first type, the first firmware volume is authenticated using the first authentication information and the Secure Boot authentication.

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may include receiving a feature package associated with a provisioning action via a management controller communicatively coupled to a host system and configured to provide management of an information handling system comprising the host system and the management controller via management traffic communicated between the management controller and a network external to the information handling system, extracting components of the feature package including a first binary image and a second binary image, and executing the first binary image, wherein the first binary image is configured to store the second binary image in a portion of a memory accessible to the host system, set a variable flag indicating the management controller is in a maintenance mode, and cause the host system to reboot to execute the second binary image.

Methods and systems for refreshing an information handling system may include receiving a request for information, searching a group inventory for the information, and responding to the request with the information. The information may correspond to a configuration. The request may be received from a node in a group with a plurality of nodes. The information requested may correspond to an update to the configuration of the node. The group inventory may be sourced from the group. The information in the response may be based on finding a match in the group inventory.
