A square can capable of securing high sealing performance even if a curvature radius of a seamed portion at a seamed corner portion is reduced, enabling a reduction in a countersink depth, reduced in size, having excellent sealing ability and storage efficiency and a method and an apparatus for double seaming the square can. A second seaming roll () is guided by a model cam for second seaming having a model cam surface for second seaming formed in such a shape that it is swelled from a model cam surface for first seaming outwards at a corner seamed portion (). Accordingly, the seaming shape of the corner seamed portion () is formed in such a shape that the seaming width thereof at the center of the corner seamed portion is larger than the seaming width of a linear sealed portion () and is swelled outwards to absorb an increase in sheet thickness at the corner seamed portion. Also, a seaming wall () is formed in an obliquely inclined seamed shape so that the overlap of a cover hook () with a body hook () of a prescribed amount can be secured without allowing the cover hook () to fall from the body hook () so as to maintain excellent sealing ability.

The structure of a clinch portion of a mounting cup is provided which can retain a gasket. The clinch portion includes a curl portion continuous with an upper end of an outer circumferential wall at an inner circumferential edge of the curl portion, and a curl skirt portion having an upper end continuous with an outer circumferential edge of the curl portion. The curl portion is made of a plurality of curved planes having different radii extending from the inner circumferential edge to outer circumferential edge. A space a portion of the gasket can enter is formed between a virtual curved plane with a radius constituting the inner plane of the curl portion and an inner curved plane or an outer curved plane, or between the virtual curved plane and both the inner and outer curved planes.

The holding ring () is so mounted on a guide ring () as to be turned via a pressurization roller (). The guide ring () is drive-controlled in the X-axis direction and Y-axis direction by an X-axis table () and a Y-axis table () driven by servo motors () according to the shape of a can.

A method for forming a loop winding having a plurality of meandering parts and disposed in a stator of a motor which includes: disposing the loop winding between a first die unit having a plurality of first dies and a second die unit having a plurality of second dies; and press forming the loop winding between the first dies and the second dies by relatively moving the first die unit and the second die unit toward each other, wherein the press forming step is so performed as to provide the loop winding with a plurality of meandering parts and, simultaneously, to reduce the loop winding in the radial direction.

A method for manufacturing an embossed can body with a pattern printed on an outer surface of a cylindrical can barrel includes a plastic working step for forming a flange portion and a neck portion at an opening peripheral edge of the can barrel, and an embossing step for forming an embossed portion on at least a part of the pattern while aligning with the pattern. Thus, the pattern and the embossed portion can be aligned easily and accurately. Also, a stopping mark and a confirmation mark are formed on the can barrel, and a first sensor corresponding to the stopping mark and a second sensor corresponding to the confirmation mark are used. When the respective first and second sensors detect the stopping mark and the confirmation mark, it can be confirmed that the pattern on the can barrel is oriented in a predetermined direction.

A reinforcing part with a reinforcing effect smaller than a buckling effect is provided at a coupling part between the top plate and the peripheral groove or near said coupling part except for the buckling part at an opposite side of the openable member and its neighborhood to provide a difference of strength between the buckling part at the openable member side and the buckling part at an opposite side of the openable member.
