A method and apparatus for a sensor network having a plurality of reference nodes and a sensor node that enables the sensor node to compute a relative position through transmission range control and position mapping. In transmission range control, each reference node sends location information signals to the sensor node while varying transmission power. In position mapping, the sensor node forms a grid of vertical and horizontal lines corresponding to a square area defined by the neighboring reference nodes, extracts coordinates of intersections in the grid belonging to a shared region between areas covered by location information signals of various transmit power levels from the neighboring reference nodes, and sets the position of the sensor node to the middle points of the extracted coordinates. Each reference node sends a location information signal when a random backoff time expires after reception of a location information request signal.

Method and system for locating sensor node in sensor network using transmit power control

A method and apparatus for allocating a radio resource in a wireless sensor network are provided, in which a signal requesting a radio resource allocation is received from any one of sensors included in the wireless sensor network, an amount of remaining energy is compared with respect to each zone where a sensor transmitting the signal is included, an order of zones, from a zone comprising a greatest amount of remaining energy to a zone having a least amount of remaining energy, is determined as a result of the comparison, and a time slot is allocated to a sensor of each zone according to the determined order of zones, when transmitting a frame for the radio resource allocation.

Method and apparatus for allocating radio resource in wireless sensor network

For a sensor network having reference nodes and sensor nodes, A method and apparatus using a distance determining algorithm for a sensor network having reference nodes and sensor nodes. A distance determining algorithm is executed to determine an adequate distance between reference nodes within a preset error range, and a position location table is created. A sensor node sends a location information request to reference nodes, receives the position location table and location information from the reference nodes, and computes the coordinates of its position. Alternatively, without requesting transmission of the position location table, the sensor node may receive calculated coordinates of its position directly from a reference node.

Method and system for locating sensor node in sensor network using distance determining algorithm

A method and apparatus for establishing a path in a wireless network are provided where the method includes receiving location information about a first neighbor node and a second neighbor node, the first neighbor node being located within a range of a first hop from a source node, the second neighbor node being located within a range of a second hop from the source node, determining a direction of a point where the second neighbor node is located, based on the source node, by using the received location information; detecting a particular second neighbor node having a same direction of a point where a destination node is located, based on the source node, and limitedly establishing a path via the detected second neighbor node, when the source node establishes a path for transmitting predetermined data to the destination node.

Method and apparatus for establishing path in wireless network

A data aggregation method and data aggregation apparatus are provided. More particularly the data aggregation method includes: generating a plurality of data aggregation trees according to connection relationships between clusters that constitute a sensor network using a geographical code (GGC), selecting a single activation zone for each of the clusters which configures each of the plurality of data aggregation trees, selecting a maximum energy tree having a maximum total residual energy from the plurality of data aggregation trees, based on the single activation zone, and generating a tree list including activation zone information which corresponds to the maximum energy tree, and information about the maximum energy tree.

Apparatus for data aggregation using zone scheduling in wireless sensor network and method thereof

An apparatus and method of determining a number of data transmissions in a sensor network are provided. More particularly, an apparatus for determining a number of data transmissions preferably includes an interest zone detector for detecting an interest zone based on a user query, a zone determination unit for determining whether the interest zone is overlapped with a sensing zone, a zone calculator for calculating an overlap amount when the interest zone is overlapped with the sensing zone, and a transmission number determination unit for determining a number of data transmissions according to the overlap amount.

Apparatus for determining a number of data transmissions in sensor network and method using the same

A routing method with routing algorithms applicable to a one-level hierarchical network, including a first algorithm in which a shortest one among all paths established in association with one destination is selected, a second algorithm in which the first method is conducted in a distributed fashion to achieve a fast routing, and a third algorithm in which any one of paths established in association with one destination may be selected as a shortest path when the QoS value calculated in association therewith is more optimum than a required reference QoS value, for preventing problems caused by errors at the single path. The method also provides algorithms that are modified versions of the second and third algorithm for the multi-level hierarchical network. Accordingly, the method is advantageous in that users can select an algorithm, most suitable for the system environment, from the above algorithms.
