Provided is a separator for an electrochemical device, including: a porous polymer substrate; and a porous organic/inorganic coating layer formed on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate and including heat conductive inorganic particles and core-shell particles, wherein the particles are bound to one another by a binder polymer, and wherein the core-shell particle includes a core portion and a shell portion surrounding the surface of the core portion, the core portion includes a metal hydroxide having heat-absorbing property at 150-400° C., the shell portion includes a polymer resin, and the polymer resin is a water-insoluble polymer or crosslinked polymer. An electrochemical device including the separator is also provided. It is possible to provide a separator with an improved heat-absorbing effect and safety, and an electrochemical device including the same.

Provided is a secondary battery which includes an electrode assembly having an electrode tab extended from an electrode current collector, wherein the electrode tab is provided with an insulation coating layer containing an inorganic filler and a binder, the binder has an electrolyte uptake more than 0% and less than 50%, and the electrolyte uptake is determined by a predetermined method. In the secondary battery according to the present disclosure, the insulation coating layer provided in the electrode tab includes a binder having a low electrolyte uptake, and thus the insulation coating layer has improved adhesion and is prevented from detachment from the electrode tab. As a result, it is possible to maintain an excellent insulation state and to minimize an internal short-circuit in a secondary battery, thereby ensuring safety.

According to the present disclosure, a porous separator is manufactured by coating polymer particles on an electrode, thereby effectively controlling the uniformity and tortuosity of the pores, a porous separator is manufactured by directly coating a polymer solution on an electrode without separately manufacturing a separator, thereby saving the process costs and time, and further, when a functional group able to capture manganese is attached to the surface of polymer particles constituting a separator, deterioration in battery performance may be prevented through removal of manganese ions that may be deposited on an anode during operation of a battery.

Disclosed are a separator having an electrode adhesive layer and an electrochemical device including the same. The electrode adhesive layer includes organic particles and an acrylic resin binder.
