Catalyst systems and methods for making and using the same are described herein. A catalyst system can include at least three catalysts. The three catalysts include a metallocene catalyst, a first non-metallocene including a ligand complexed to a metal through two or more nitrogen atoms, and a second non-metallocene including a ligand complexed to a metal through one or more nitrogen atoms and an oxygen atom.

Producing polyolefin products

Polymers, and systems and methods for making and using the same are described herein. A polymer includes ethylene and at least one alpha olefin having from 4 to 20 carbon atoms. The polymer is formed by a trimmed catalyst system including a supported catalyst including bis(n-propylcyclopentadienyl) hafnium (R)(R) and a trim catalyst comprising meso-O(SiMeInd)Zr(R)(R), wherein Rand Rare each, independently, methyl, chloro, fluoro, or a hydrocarbyl group.

Producing polyolefin products with improved stiffness, toughness, and processability

Polymers, and systems and methods for making and using the same are described herein. A polymer includes ethylene and at least one alpha olefin having from 4 to 20 carbon atoms. The polymer has a melt index ratio (MIR) greater than about 40. The polymer also has a value for Mw1/Mw2 of at least about 2.0, wherein Mw1/Mw2 is a ratio of a weight average molecular weight (Mw) for a first half of a temperature rising elution (TREF) curve from a cross-fractionation (CFC) analysis to an Mw for a second half of the TREF curve. The polymer also has a value for Tw1&#x2212;Tw2 of less than about &#x2212;15&#xb0; C., wherein Tw1&#x2212;Tw2 is a difference of a weight average elution temperature (Tw) for the first half of the TREF curve to a Tw for the second half of the TREF curve.

Described herein are methods comprising contacting one or more olefins with a catalyst system in a polymerization reactor at conditions sufficient to produce a polyolefin, wherein the catalyst system comprises a first metallocene catalyst compound comprising a first transition metal atom, two cyclopentadienyl ligands bound to the first transition metal atom, and two leaving groups bound to the first transition metal atom, wherein at least one leaving group is selected from the group consisting of a halo-phenoxy and a halo-alkoxy; wherein the first metallocene catalyst compound has a catalyst productivity that is at least 20% greater than a comparative metallocene catalyst compound used to produce the same polyolefin, wherein the comparative metallocene catalyst compound is the same as the first metallocene catalyst compound except neither leaving group is a halo-phenoxy or a halo-alkoxy.

Methods for producing polyolefins with catalyst systems

A polymerization catalyst system and polymerization processes using the catalyst systems are disclosed. The polymerization catalyst systems may include a) a first catalyst compound, and b) a second catalyst compound, wherein the first catalyst compound comprises a biphenyl phenol compound having essentially no hydrogen response.

Bimetallic catalysts, methods of producing bimetallic catalysts comprising a modified Ziegler-Natta catalyst and a metallocene, and methods of olefin polymerization using such catalysts are provided. The method of producing the bimetallic catalyst may include combining (a) a Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising a Group 4, 5 or 6 metal halide and/or oxide, optionally including a magnesium compound, with (b) a modifier compound ('modifier'), wherein the modifier compound is a Group 13 alkyl compound, to form a modified Ziegler-Natta catalyst. The modified Ziegler-Natta catalyst is preferably non-activated, that is, it is unreactive towards olefin polymerization alone. The molar ratio of the Group 13 metal (of the modifier) to the Group 4, 5 or 6 metal halide and/or oxide may be less than 10:1. The bimetallic catalysts are useful in producing bimodal polymers, particularly bimodal polyethylene, having a Polydispersity (Mw/Mn) of from 12 to 50, which may be used in pipes and films.

Bimetallic catalyst, method of polymerization and bimodal polyolefins therefrom

A polymerization catalyst system and polymerization processes using the catalyst systems are disclosed. The polymerization catalyst systems may include a) a first catalyst compound, and b) a second catalyst compound, wherein the first catalyst compound includes an oxadiazole-containing compound. In some embodiments, the oxadiazole-containing compound has essentially no hydrogen response, thus allowing better and/or tailored control of product properties when producing polymers using the catalyst system.

Bimetallic catalysts, and methods of producing a bimetallic catalyst comprising a modified Ziegler-Natta catalyst and a metallocene are provided, in one embodiment the method including combining: (a) a Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising a Group 4, 5 or 6 metal halide and/or oxide, optionally including a magnesium compound, with (b) a modifier compound ('modifier'), wherein the modifier compound is a Group 13 alkyl compound, to form a modified Ziegler-Natta catalyst. Also provided is a method of olefin polymerization using the bimetallic catalyst of the invention. The modified Ziegler-Natta catalyst is preferably non-activated, that is, it is unreactive towards olefin polymerization alone. In one embodiment, the molar ratio of the Group 13 metal (of the modifier) to the Group 4, 5 or 6 metal halide and/or oxide is less than 10:1 in one embodiment. The bimetallic catalysts of the present invention are useful in producing bimodal polymers, particularly bimodal polyethylene, having a Polydispersity (Mw/Mn) of from 12 to 50. These bimodal polyolefins are useful in such articles as pipes and films.

Bimodal polyethylene compositions and methods for making the same are provided. In at least one specific embodiment, the bimodal polyethylene composition can include a high molecular weight component having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of from about 400,000 to about 950,000. The bimodal polyethylene composition can also include a low molecular weight component having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of from about 3,000 to about 100,000. The high molecular weight component can be present in an amount ranging from about 25 wt % to about 40 wt % of the bimodal polyethylene composition. The bimodal polyethylene composition can also have a percent die swell of less than about 80%.

Bimodal polyethylene compositions for blow molding applications

A catalyst system comprising a hafnocene catalyst compound and zirconocene catalyst compound, wherein the hafnocene and/or zirconocene include(s) at least one ligand substituted with at least one linear or iso alkyl group having 3 or more carbon atoms is provided. A process for polymerizing olefin(s) using the same catalyst system is also provided.
