A liner system for an article of footwear, system, and method includes a liner structure, a sensor, a housing, an electronic module, and a ground plane. The sensor is configured to determine a property of the foot of a wearer. The housing is seated at least in part in the liner structure. The electronic module is coupled to the sensor and positioned in the housing and includes an internal wireless transceiver configured to transmit information based on data received from the sensor concerning the property of the foot and an internal antenna, positioned within the housing and operatively coupled to the wireless transceiver, configured to wirelessly transmit the information from the wireless transceiver. The ground plane is operatively coupled to the internal antenna and projects outside of the housing, extending along the liner structure, and configured to extend an effective range of the internal antenna.

The kinetic energy generator includes a piezoelectric element that receives kinetic energy initiated by a user, a rectifier connected with the piezoelectric element that rectifies voltage from the piezoelectric element, a capacitive system of capacitors formed from different materials connected with the piezoelectric element through the rectifier, a short-range transceiver connected with the capacitive system and activated in response to energy storage in the capacitive system reaching a threshold level, and a non-volatile memory that provides at least some of the data transmitted by the transceiver in response to a request from the transceiver. Below an inflection point, the capacitive system stores more energy than one system of one capacitor type and less energy than another system of another capacitor type arranged in the same manner as the capacitive system, and the reverse above the inflection point.

The slidable securing device is coupled between the first segment and the second segment of the upper, configured to slide along a length of track and secure the first and second segments together. A motorized lacing system engages with a lace to increase and decrease tension on the lace. The lace is secured to the slidable securing device, and when tension is placed on the lace, the lace causes the slidable securing device to slide along the track and secure the first and second segments together.

The lower portion can include a mid-sole and an out-sole, and the lower portion can be coupled to the upper portion at the mid-sole. The lacing engine can include a top-loading lace spool to engage a loop of the lace to enable manipulation of the effective length of the lace through rotation of the lace spool, the lacing engine received within a cavity in the lower portion.

The lace guide can include a middle section, a first extension and a second extension. The adaptive engine is also configured to increase or decrease tension on the lace cable to increase or decrease compression of the support structure on the portion of anatomy, respectively.

The optical sensor is positioned to view the tabs through the pair of slits, wherein the processor circuit is configured to operate the motor based, at least in part, on the signal as received from the optical sensor.

In this example, the footwear assembly can include a footwear upper and a lace cable running through a plurality of lace guides. The lace cable can extend through each of the plurality of lace guides to form a pattern along each of the medial side and lateral side of the footwear upper. Finally, the footwear assembly includes a lateral proximal lace guide to route the lace cable out of the lacing engine.
