The durability is improved by using as a carcass ply cord or a belt cord of a tire a cord formed by twisting plural steel filaments having a tensile strength of not less than 2700 N/mm, and a total elongation at break of the cord of 3.0-7.0% without sacrificing the excellent ride comfort.

Motorcycle radial tire with specified steel belt cord

A motorcycle tire having excellent belt cord durability, high-speed durability, impact force absorbability, running stability and uniformity performances is produced by constituting a belt with a low-cost steel cord member having a specified twisting construction of 2 to 7 filaments and a specified space between the mutual filaments over a full length of the cord in the belt.

Motorcycle tires and method of producing the same

A rubber-covered belt ply forms a belt layer. At least a majority of metal wires in the ply exist as metal wire bundles in which a plurality of metal wires of circular cross-sections and substantially equal wire diameters are aligned in parallel without being twisted together, the metal wire bundles being aligned planarly and in parallel with intervals between the metal wire bundles in a transverse direction. At least one layer, which is a cap layer in which organic fibers are covered with rubber and/or a reinforcing layer which is formed of rubber or whose main component is rubber, is disposed between the belt layer and a tread.

Radial tire

A radial tire for use in passenger cars is disclosed which is excellent in motion performance and durability. The tire has a carcass cord layer in which steel cords of a single strand construction represented by (1xn) in which n is a number of filament yarns and is an integer of from 1 to 5 are embedded in rubber. The thickness of the rubber between the adjacent steel cords is in a range between 0.80 and 2.00 mm when measured in a tire circumferential direction at a location having a tire maximum width in an arrangement of the steel cords in the carcass cord layer. A product (nxd.sup.4) between a number (m) of the filament yarns constituting the steel cord of the single strand construction and a diameter (d) of the filaments is in a range of 0.002 to 0.012. The diameter of the filaments is in a range between 0.15.ltoreq.d.ltoreq.0.25 mm.
