An electronic medical record employs a hybrid search engine which can perform structured queries for comprehensive search results and text searches for rapid identification of relevant information. A standard structured database of medical data is rendered accessible to text searches by generating pseudo-documents from the database that can then be subjected to standard information retrieval pre-processing.

Hybrid query system for electronic medical records

A system, computer-readable medium, and method for automatically determining a topic of a conversation and responding to the topic determination are provided. In the method, an active topic is defined as a first topic in response to execution of an application. The first topic includes first text defining a plurality of phrases, a probability of occurrence associated with each of the plurality of phrases, and a response associated with each of the plurality of phrases. Speech text recognized from a recorded audio signal is received. Recognition of the speech text is based at least partially on the probability of occurrence associated with each of the plurality of phrases of the first topic. A phrase of the plurality of phrases associated with the received speech text is identified. The response associated with the identified phrase is performed by the computing device. The response includes instructions defining an action triggered by occurrence of the received speech text, wherein the action includes defining the active topic as a second topic.

Interactive system for patient access to electronic medical records

An integrated system provides patients with secure, real-time access to their Personal Health Record and an Enterprise Health Information System (PHR and EHIS, respectively). Access may be provided by way of the Internet and via a Personal Health Portal (PHP) web page. From the secure PHP web page, patients can view information created and maintained by their health care providers and their affiliated staff. Electronic appointment scheduling for medical resources

A system to allow self-scheduling of appointments via an electronic network. The electronic network is configured to permit secure access thereto by a service recipient. The system comprises a self-scheduling server coupled to the electronic network for secure communications therewith. The self-scheduling server is adapted to receive appointment scheduling requests from the service recipient securely via the electronic network The self-scheduling server includes a processor which is coupled to a rule base, to a scheduling database, and receives the appointment scheduling requests. The processor is operable upon the appointment scheduling requests to authorize the appointment scheduling request to send appointment schedule information to the scheduling database for inclusion therein and to send an appointment acknowledgment to the service recipient securely via the electronic network.
