A main object of the invention is to provide a polymer compound for medicine which has an excellent capability of fixing a biologically active substance and has such chemical/physical stability that the compound is less dissolved or deteriorated in a washing step, in particular, which can be suitably applied to a plastic substrate surface. The invention provides a polymer compound for medical material which is a polymer comprising repeating units derived from an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable monomer (a) having a functional group for fixing a biologically active substance, wherein the polymer has a reactive functional group on at least one terminal side thereof, and a biochip substrate wherein a layer containing the polymer compound is formed on a substrate surface, thereby attaining the object.

A biochip substrate capable of realizing the high detection accuracy by restricting a nonspecific adsorption or bonding of a substance to be detected, when used for a detection or analysis of protein, nucleic acids and the like. The biochip substrate is for fixing a biologically active substance on a surface of a solid substrate, and characterized in that it has a layer comprising a polymer compound obtained by copolymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable monomer having an alkylene glycol residue, an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable monomer having a functional group for fixing a biologically active substance and an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable monomer having a cross-linkable functional group, on the surface of the substrate.

A transparent composite composition is provided which is low in coefficient of linear expansion and excellent in transparency, heat resistance and solvent resistance and can serve as an optical sheet for a liquid crystal display device or organic EL display device, for instance and can thus serve as a glass substitute. The transparent composite composition has a transparent resin (a) and a glass filler (b), and the transparent resin (a) is a copolymer obtained from at least one reactive monomer lower in refractive index than the glass filler (b) and at least one reactive monomer higher in refractive index than the glass filler (b).

A transparent composite composition is provided which comprises an epoxy resin (a) and a glass filler (b) and in which the epoxy resin (a) comprises at least one epoxy resin whose refractive index after curing is lower than the refractive index of the glass filler (b) and at least one epoxy resin whose refractive index after curing is higher than the refractive index of the glass filler (b). The transparent composite composition of the invention has a low coefficient of linear expansion and is excellent in transparency, heat resistance and solvent resistance, among others and, therefore, is judiciously used, for example, in the form of liquid crystal display device substrates and organic EL device substrates (in particular of the active matrix type) and, further, transparent sheets, optical lenses, color filter substrates, solar cell substrates, touch panels, optical devices, optical waveguides, LED sealing materials and so forth.
