A heat generating body has a first electrode and a second electrode arranged opposed to each other, and also has a mesh-like electrically conductive membrane (mesh-like pattern) mounted in a curved surface shape between the first electrode and the second electrode. The first electrode and the second electrode are arranged so as to satisfy the relationship of (Lmax&#x2212;Lmin)/((Lmax+Lmin)/2)=0.375, where Lmin is a minimum value of the distance between two opposite points which are on the first and second electrodes and on the electrically conductive membrane and Lmax is a maximum value of the distance.

Heat generating body

A front cover for a vehicle lighting fixture is attached to the front opening part of the vehicle lighting fixture having a lamp body and a light source installed in the lamp body. A part of the surface of the front cover opposed to the light source includes a heating element having a three-dimensional curved surface. The heating element includes a mesh pattern having intersections of a large number of grids formed of conductive metallic filaments and a first electrode and a second electrode formed at both opposed ends of the mesh pattern. The projection shape of the outline of the entire mesh pattern is formed in a rectangular shape having the longitudinal direction, for example, between the first electrode and the second electrode.

Optically compensatory film, polarizing plate and liquid-crystal display

A cellulose acylate film is provided and is excellent in increasability of an in-plane retardation and a retardation in a thickness direction, from which an additive does not bleed out, and which is excellent in surface properties. The cellulose acylate film has a thickness of 40 &#x3bc;m to 180 &#x3bc;m and contains no retardation increasing agent. Optical cellulose acylate film, polarizing plate and liquid crystal display

To provide an optical film which exhibits excellent retardation values both in the film plane and along the direction perpendicular to the film plane and shows little change in retardation values depending on environmental factors such as humidity, a liquid crystal display showing little change in viewing angle characteristics due to an environmental (humidity) change, and a polarizing plate to be used in the liquid crystal display, the cellulose acylate contains a cellulose acylate which is a mixed fatty acid ester of a cellulose and satisfies formulae specified in the specification, and a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display using this cellulose acylate film.

The object of the present invention is to provide a cartridge filter with the use of a hydrophilic microporous filter membrane excellent in chemical resistance which is appropriately usable in, for example, processes for producing semiconductors and drugs. A microfilter cartridge is described wherein a microporous filter membrane, membrane supports, a core, an outer cover and end-plates constituting the filter cartridge are all made of a polysulfone polymer.

Microfilter cartridge

The present invention relates to a microporous membrane and a process for producing thereof, especially a microporous membrane which can be used for microfiltration, has excellent resistance to chemicals, and a process for producing thereof. The present invention provides a microporous membrane having excellent resistance to chemicals, and a microporous membrane which facilitates waste disposal, and a process for producing thereof. The microporous membrane has a bubble point value measured by the use of ethanol (by the test method of JIS K3832) falling in the range of from 10 kPa to 1000 kPa and comprises a polymer prepared by ring opening polymerization of a compound represented by chemical formula (I) or a polymer which is a ring opening polymer or ring opening copolymer represented by chemical formula (II). An example of the ring opening ring polymer or ring opening copolymer is a norbornene resin. The process for producing the microporous membrane is as follows: A polymer prepared by ring opening polymerization of a compound represented by chemical formula (I) is heated and dissolved in a solvent (a) in which the polymer is soluble, and casted to form a solution membrane, which is rapidly cooled, and extracted with a washing solvent (b) in which the polymer is insoluble to remove the solvent (a), whereby the microporous membrane having a bubble point value measured by the use of ethanol (by the test method of JIS K3832) falling in the range from 10 kPa to 1000 kPa is obtained.

Microporous membrane and process for the production thereof

The microfiltration membrane cartridge filter is formed by pleating a porous membrane sheet having a mean pore size of 0.05 to 10 .mu.m, rounding the sheet in the form of a cylinder, liquid-tightly sealing joints of the rounded sheet and liquid-tightly sealing opposite ends of the cylinder by end plates, wherein pores in the opposite end portions of the cylindrical pleated membrane are filled up with a high molecular-weight polymer to reject the liquid-permeation of the opposite end portions of the cylindrical pleated membrane. The microfiltration membrane cartridge filter can be made wet to water easily so that an integrity test for the filter is carried on easily.

Cartridge membrane filter for micro-filtration

A dead-end type filtration system wherein a bulk (or bulk suspension) comprising a fluid containing suspended matters is filtered through a micro-filter membrane to separate the fluid form the suspended matters, back wash is periodically carried out under such conditions that pressure on the transmitted fluid side of the filter membrane is higher than pressure on the bulk side thereof, and back wash liquid together with the suspended matters desorbed form the liter membrane is discharged from the filtration system to the outside, characterized by that said filter membrane has an anisotropic structure where the pore diameters of the filter membrane are changed continuously or discontinuously in the thickness direction of the filter membrane, and the pore diameters on one side of the filter membrane are different from those on other side thereof.

Filtration system

Disclosed is a phase difference film in the form of a uniaxially stretched film having a negative intrinsic birefringence which is made of a styrene/acrylonitrile copolymer. The copolymer has a styrene unit and an acrylonitrile unit in the range of 85/15 to 50/50 by weight (former/latter) and a weight-average molecular weight in the range of 200,000 to 900,000. The liquid crystal display provided with the phase difference film is also disclosed.

A fine porous membrane having a pore size distribution in the thickness direction and having a layer having a minimum pore size in the interior thereof, wherein the ratio of maximum pore size to the average pore size, each as determined according to ASTM-316-80, is not more than 1.8. The fine porous membrane is produced by a process comprising casting a film-forming solution, comprising a polymer in a solvent having incorporated therein a swelling agent and a non-solvent, on a casting carrier while being in a solution state, directing air having a temperature of from 15.degree. to 60.degree. C. and a relative humidity of from 10 to 80% onto the surface of the cast film at a velocity of from 0.2 to 4 m/sec for a period of from 2 to 17 seconds to cause coacervation of the cast film while controlling the evaporation loss of the solvent from the cast film and the absorption of non-solvent vapors in the air, dipping the case film in a coagulating bath to cause phase separation and coagulation to form a fine porous membrane, and stripping off the membrane from the casting carrier. The fine porous membranes has a low filtration resistance, a great filtration flow rate, a high efficiency in trapping fine particles and bacteria, and a long life.
