A continuous assemblage of pots for raising and transplanting seedlings and a method of manufacturing the assemblage is provided, in which it is possible to extend the length of a link piece without folding an extension portion or arranging a slit, thereby making it possible to handle enlargement of the interval between the planted seedlings stably and reliably. A link piece is formed by folding back both ends of a strip-shaped thin film in the length direction, such that approximately one-fourth of the length of the thin film is folded back onto the same face of the thin film at each end, then attaching the folded-back portions to the same face of the thin film with a water-soluble adhesive. The link pieces are disposed in two rows in a staggered arrangement in which the folded-back portions are oriented such that they face the folded-back portions of the opposing link pieces. Continuous pieces are formed by using a non-water-soluble adhesive to attach both ends in the length direction of each link piece to the opposing link pieces. Individual pots are formed between the opposing link pieces. Therefore, it is possible to extend the length of the link piece without folding an extension portion or arranging a slit, as in the conventional continuous assemblage of pots, thereby making it possible to handle enlargement of the interval between the planted seedlings stably and reliably.

Continuously assembled pots, configured in square or hexagonal cylinders for raising and transplanting seedlings are formed by developing non-adhered portions of a band, which is formed by adhering two sheets of film such as paper or the like. The portion of the band corresponding to a connector portion which connects the pots is folded at a given length, and has an elongated or unfolded length larger than the width of one side of a pot. The folded portion of the band is adhered to itself and to a pot with a water soluble paste, so that the continuously assembled pots are separated by water during raising and pulled out continuously from one end thereof in a line.

An assembly of pots for raising and transplanting seedlings. A plurality of cylindrical pots are made of paper and each pot is connected by a connection member into a continuous form. The connection member includes slits for allowing the spacing between adjacent pots to be elongated to a length corresponding to one intrarow spacing for various kinds of plants. As such a heating apparatus, may be used the one in which a rotary roll heater or a press-type heating plate is coated with a jacket having openings which is made of a material such as iron, copper and aluminum.

An assembly of pots for raising and transplantation of seedlings, the assembly made of paper or a paper-like thin film, in which the side wall of each pot is provided, by means of a cut, with tongue-like pieces which can be easily lifted-up toward the outside of the pot by the pressure of seedling roots while in the soil after transplantation, therefore, making the extension of roots from the tongue-like portion both vigorous and untangled with respect to adjacent potted seedlings.

The invention relates to a multiple pot comprising individual pots interconnected by connector portions so as to be capable of being pulled out. The multiple pot is used to raise and transplant seedlings of plants. The invention also relates to a method of fabricating the pot. The pot is designed especially to promote growth of roots across the side walls of the individual pots after transplantation. Also, the resistance encountered when the multiple pot is unfolded is reduced. Further, the individual pots are uniform in size. These feature arise from the facts that the connector portions are formed by applying a waterproof paste discontinuously and that a water-soluble paste is not applied around the edges of the individual pots created when the multiple pot is unfolded. Hence, a coating of the paste is formed in none of these portions. The multiple pot is fabricated by continuously carrying out three steps. At the first step, the waterproof paste is applied in a given pattern while continuously pulling out two continuous thin films. At the second step, folds are formed in the resulting belt, and the belt is folded in a zigzag fashion. This state is maintained. At the third step, the water-soluble paste is applied to the front side and the rear side of the belt alternately up to each fold. Then, the belt is folded, and pressure is applied to it to stick together the folded belts.
