In response to connection of a vehicle with an external power supply, a plug ECU (PLG-ECU) performs a first charging operation of controlling a charger using a target value which is set to a state of charge lower than a predetermined full state of charge, until the state of charge of a power storage device reaches the target value. After the state of charge reaches the target value, the PLG-ECU stops charging of the power storage device, and restarts charging of the power storage device so that the state of charge reaches the predetermined full state of charge at a scheduled time to end charging which is specified through the use of an input unit.

When the absolute values of the negative voltage V&minus; and the positive voltage V&plus; of a rectangular wave to be applied to the three phase coils of the motor driven using a rectangular-waved voltage are different, time T and time T for the rectangular wave are adjusted such that the area A representing the absolute value of a time integration value of the negative voltage V&minus; and the area B representing the absolute value of a time integration value of the positive voltage V&plus; becomes equal to each other. Power output device

A direct-current power supply connecting the negative pole bus of an inverter circuit and the neutral point of a motor and a capacitor connecting the positive pole bus of the inverter circuit and the neutral point of the motor are provided for performing the switching control of the transistors T -T of the inverter circuit on the basis of a phase voltage command value formed by the addition of a direct-current component and an alternating-current component. The voltage between the terminals of the capacitor is controlled on the direct-current component, and the driving control of the motor is performed on the alternating-current component. The supply voltage of the direct-current power supply can be made to be lower than a voltage necessary to drive the motor. Moreover, the withstand voltage of the capacitor can be made to be smaller and the relay circuit can be simplified in comparison with an apparatus equipped with a capacitor connected between the positive pole bus and the negative pole bus of an inverter circuit. As a result, the downsizing of an apparatus and the reduction in costs can be achieved, and the durability and the reliability of the apparatus can be improved.

To improve accuracy in controlling battery output, a charge-storage element is connected in parallel to a plurality of power source units. Electromagnetic energy regenerated by the first motor MG1 is supplied to the second motor MG2 not via the driving circuit 92 but directly from the stator 32. Compared with a system for driving a motor via a driving circuit, such as an inverter, the structure of the present invention enhances the energy efficiency of the power output apparatus 10 and reduces the size of the whole power output apparatus 10.

Power output apparatus

A control apparatus for controlling an output torque of a brushless electric motor based on a torque command signal received from a torque command signal generator. The control apparatus includes magnetic pole position sensors for producing position signals indicative of a rotational position of a rotor of the motor. A counter outputs an address signal based on the position signals. A sine wave memory, which stores plural sine waves, outputs a sine wave signal based on the address signal. Then the amplitude of the sine wave signal is linearly controlled based on the torque command signal, and stator current is applied to stator windings of the motor based on the linearly controlled sine wave signal.

Electric control apparatus for brushless motor

An electric automobile driving apparatus installed in an electric automobile for driving the same. The driving force of the electric automobile is generated by a main battery as the rotating force of a motor. The motor is an AC motor and driven by an AC current output from the main battery and converted into a DC voltage by an inverter. Electric appliances installed in the automobile are driven by a DC voltage having a different value which is output from an auxiliary battery. The auxiliary battery is charged with the DC voltage obtained by rectifying the output from a secondary coil which is disposed in close proximity to a primary coil of the motor.
