Organic electroluminescent materials and devices

Compound of Formula I, is provided. In Formula I, rings A, B, C, and D are 5- or 6-membered rings; each of X-X, X-X, and Z-Zis C or N; each of L, L, and Lis selected from a direct bond or a divalent linker; each of a and b is 0 or 1; Y is O, S, Se, or NR; W is O, S, NR, C═R, or CRR; up to 1 of Zto Zis N; each R, R', R, R, R, R, R, R, and Ris hydrogen or a substituent. Formulations, OLEDs, and consumer products containing the same are also disclosed.

Novel iridium complexes containing phenylpyridine and pyridyl aza-benzo fused ligands are described. These complexes are useful as light emitters when incorporated into OLEDs.

Provided are transition metal compounds having 5-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring in a unique configuration of fused rings per Formula I The compounds show improved phosphorescent emission in red to near IR region and are useful as emitter materials in organic electroluminescence device.
