Various embodiments of the disclosure relate to a device and a method for obtaining information on a cellular network through direct communication in an electronic device. The electronic device may include: a memory, a first communication circuit, a second communication circuit, and a processor, and the processor may be configured to control the electronic device to: identify a country in which the electronic device is located using the first communication circuit, obtain network information of at least one external electronic device through direct communication using the second communication circuit based on determining that the country in which the electronic device is located has changed, detect a PLMN to which the electronic device is accessible based on the network information of the at least one external electronic device, perform a network search related to the detected PLMN through the first communication circuit, and perform a network registration procedure through a detected cell based on the network search through the first communication circuit.

Electronic device for acquiring network information and method for operating same

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes at least one processor connected with a first subscriber identity module (SIM) and a second SIM and at least one radio frequency (RF) circuit. The at least one processor is configured to receive an RRC connection release message after radio resource control (RRC) connection with the first communication network to transmit/receive data in the state where the use of the at least one RF circuit is allocated to the first SIM, and retransmit a registration request message for the second communication network to the base station of the second communication network in the state where the use of the at least one RF circuit is allocated to the second SIM in response to the reception of the RRC connection release message.

Electronic device and method for registering in communication network by electronic device supporting multiple SIMS

An electronic device may include a first subscriber identity module (SIM), a second SIM, a communication circuit, a memory, and a processor. According to an embodiment, the memory may store instructions that when executed, cause the processor to set the first SIM to a SIM associated with a data service, and the second SIM to a SIM irrelevant to the data service to determine first capability information associated with a function supported by the electronic device in connection with the first SIM, and second capability information associated with a function supported by the electronic device in connection with the second SIM. The instructions may also cause the processor to transmit the first and second capability information to the network, and to receive allocation of a resource for wireless communication corresponding to each of the first and second SIM from the network, based on the first and the second capability information.
