There are provided techniques and apparatuses for fan blade pitch setting. For example, there is provided an impeller including a ring disposed in a hub of the impeller. The ring can include a recess shaped and positioned to impart a specified pitch angle to a blade extending outwardly from the ring through the hub.

A fan with a housing defining an interior and a flow path therein and a valve assembly including a valve element disposed in the flow path and configured to rotate between an opened position and a closed position, wherein the valve element closes the flow path and a linkage assembly and a method of operating.

An impeller fan assembly that includes a housing, a stator, a rotor having a hub and an annular array of non-stationary blades extending from the hub, at least two spaced apart bearings mounted to the stator, and a pump in fluid communication with the bearings to provide fluid to the bearings. A screw pump is provided within the hollow portion of the shaft. Inlet of the screw pump is fluidly coupled to the sump and outlet is in fluid communication with the bearings. Rotation of the screw pump pumps fluid from the sump to the bearings. A de-swirler is provided within the sump to reduce rotational movement of the fluid within the sump. The de-swirler has a hub with fixed curved vanes extending from the centerline of the hub. The curved vanes have curvature in a direction opposite from a rotational direction of the screw pump.

An impeller fan assembly that includes a housing, a stator, a rotor having a hub and an annular array of non-stationary blades extending from the hub, at least two spaced apart bearings mounted to the stator, and a pump in fluid communication with the bearings to provide fluid to the bearings.

A method and system for a fan assembly that includes a fan casing having a longitudinal centerline axis extending from an upstream inlet opening to a downstream outlet opening is provided. The fan assembly also includes a first substantially cylindrical casing segment extending circumferentially about and substantially axially aligned with tips of a plurality of blades extending from a rotor hub, the first casing segment including a first inner diameter that is greater than the rotor diameter, a second casing segment configured to extend axially in a direction opposite a flow of fluid through the fan casing, the second casing segment including a second inner diameter, the second inner diameter less than the first inner diameter and the rotor diameter, and a third casing segment including the first inner diameter along a first circumferential edge, the second inner diameter along a second circumferential edge, and a surface extending therebetween.
