The present invention relates to a composition comprising PKC agonist as an active ingredient. More precisely, the present inventors confirmed that absence seizure specific SWD was reduced by administrating PKC agonist into an animal model. Therefore, the composition of the present invention comprising PKC agonist as an active ingredient can be effectively used for the prevention and treatment of absence seizure and for the production of health improving functional food.

The present invention relates to a novel use of an &#x3b1;1G T-type calcium channel transgenic mouse as a nervous disease model, more particularly, a novel use of a mouse deficient in &#x3b1;1G T-type calcium channel showing novelty-seeking and alcohol preference as a nervous disease model for human nervous related diseases such as novelty-seeking character, alcoholism, anxiety and emotion disorder by stress, etc. The &#x3b1;1G T-type channel transgenic mice showing novelty-seeking and alcohol preference of the present invention can be effectively used for the development of a medicine and a therapeutic method for human nervous diseases.

The present invention relates to a method for screening therapeutic drugs of schizophrenia using an animal model of the disease. More specifically, this invention relates to a screening method based on the phospholipase C &#x3b2;1 (PLC&#x3b2;1) knockout mouse as an animal model of schizophrenia with all the major symptoms of the human disease. This knockout mouse exhibits symptoms similar to human schizophrenia such as locomotor hyperactivity, impaired prepulse inhibition of the startle response, lack of barbering and nesting behaviors, socially subordinate status, impaired learning, and lack of type II theta rhythm which has been implicated in working memory. Thus, the knockout mouse of the present invention can be useful as an animal for screening therapeutic drugs against schizophrenia.
