Systems and methods for replaying a portion of a content item based on the user's language proficiency level in a secondary language is disclosed. The system accesses a user profile comprising a user's proficiency level in at least one secondary language, the secondary language being their non-native language. A command to replay a first portion of a content item is received and, in response to receiving the replay command, the system generates for display the first portion of the content item at a level below the user's proficiency level in the secondary language.

Systems and methods are provided for generating a second content item on identifying an event in a first content item. A first content item is received, and the first content item is monitored to identify a change in a factor associated with the first content item. It is determined whether the change in factor is greater than a threshold value. Based on the change in the factor, an event is identified in the first content item. A second content item is generated, wherein the second content item is based on the identified event in the first content item. The first content item and a user interface element are generated for display at a computing device, wherein the user interface element is configured to receive an input and is associated with the second content item. In response to receiving an input, the second content item is generated for output.

Systems and methods for searching, identifying, scoring, and providing access to companion media assets for a primary media asset are disclosed. In response to a request for companion content, metadata within a predefined time period of a play position when the request was made, is downloaded. A dynamic search template that contains search parameters based on the downloaded metadata is generated. In response to the search conducted using the search template, a plurality of companion media assets are identified and then verified. A trust score for the companion media asset is accessed. The trust score may be analyzed and modified based on its contextual relationship to the play position of the primary media asset. If the trust score is within a rating range, then a link to access the companion media asset, or a specific segment or play position within the companion media asset, is provided.

Methods and systems for determining periods of excessive noise for smart speaker voice commands. An electronic timeline of volume levels of currently playing content is made available to a smart speaker. From this timeline, periods of high content volume are determined, and the smart speaker alerts users during periods of high volume, requesting that they wait until the high-volume period has passed before issuing voice commands. In this manner, the smart speaker helps prevent voice commands that may not be detected, or may be detected inaccurately, due to the noise of the content currently being played.

The NLUI application receives an audio input comprising a plurality of terms. The NLUI application then determines whether the topic is within a plurality of topics for which a response should be generated. Systems and methods for authorizing operations associated with blocked media assets using two-factor authentication. In some aspects, a media guidance application (e.g., executed by a set-top box or other user equipment used to store and display media assets) prompts a user for a password (e.g., a personal information number) in order to unlock the content for viewing. In response to receiving a second request from the user to perform an operation related to the media asset (e.g., delete), the media guidance application prompts the user for an additional factor confirming his or her identity, consistent with two-factor authentication protocol. If the user's identity is authenticated as a user that has authority to perform the operation related to the media asset (e.g., delete the stored media asset), the media guidance application performs the operation related to the media asset (e.g., deletes the media asset).

Systems and methods for processing speech transcription in a speech processing system are disclosed. Transcriptions of utterances is received and identifications to the transcriptions are assigned. In response to receiving an indication of an erroneous transcribed utterance in at least one of the transcriptions, an audio receiver is automatically activated for receiving a second utterance. In response to receiving the second utterance, an audio file of the second utterance and a corresponding identification of the erroneous transcribed utterance are transmitted to a speech recognition system for a second transcription, and the erroneous transcribed utterance is replaced with the second transcription.

A method of modifying playing of media content in a group watch session comprises receiving a command to modify play; determining respective preferences of respective users in the session; and, if it is determined that execution of the command is consistent with the preferences, causing modifying of the playing of at least a portion of the media content based on the received command, e.g., by skipping the portion, jumping to another play position, or rewinding or fast-forwarding through the portion. The portion(s) of the media content for which play is modified may be determined based on the estimated satisfaction scores.
