One embodiment is a method that receives a description of services desired by a service requestor and then crawls web sites to extract information on services offered by service providers. The extracted information is used to transform the description of services desired by the service requestor into an improved description of services.

Transforming a description of services for web services

A method of unifying web services and telecom network management is described. The method comprises exporting an external model representation of at least one entity of a service oriented architecture of a service oriented architecture manager and importing the exported external model representation of the at least one entity as a network management data model entity of a network manager. The method further comprises subscribing, by the network manager, to subsequent updates of the at least one entity.

The system comprises a distributed resource management system, and a link mapper that is coupled to the distributed resource management system. The link mapper provides a unique symbolic link comprising a modified user identifier to a user. As such, the user is authorized by providing a dynamic account that is associated with the symbolic link to the user.

A collaborative work environment is provided that supports collaboration among users for performance of a people service that is associated with ad-hoc activities. An information base is provided that includes information relating to responsibilities of the users and work items for the ad-hoc activities. An interactive guidance structure is presented in the collaborative environment to guide actions of the users with respect to the work items. Materials produced as a result of the actions to update the information base are collected.

Terms are extracted from service description documents describing desired services, and the terms are used to search for candidate service providers operable to provide the desired services. A matrix of terms and documents are determined from the service description documents. Singular value decomposition (SVD) is used to decompose the matrix. Eigen vectors from the SVD decomposition are weighted by top k singular values in a diagonal matrix S of singular values also generated from the decomposition. The weighted eigen vectors are used to rank terms from the matrix X based on relevance of the terms to the requirements for desired services described in the service description documents.

Candidate service providers for a desired service are ranked. Terms describing service requirements for a desired service are determined. Service capability documents describing the services of the candidate service providers are determined using the terms describing the service requirements. Using singular value decomposition (SVD) and a metric, similarities between the terms describing the service requirements and the service capability documents are determined. The candidate service providers are ranked based on the similarities.

A system and method for secure access to a remote desktop across firewalls in an interactive grid environment is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention include an interactive grid computing system comprising an interactive grid computing service provider comprising: a resource for use over the interactive grid, a first firewall for protecting the resource and a remote display server for providing a secure connection and for providing interactive graphical data associated with the resource. An embodiment of a method of ordering operations begins with a first step of a computing entity storing a training data set, which includes previously executed operation pairs, attribute data, and relative cost data. In a second step, the computing entity forms a predictor. In a third step, the computing entity applies the predictor to an operation pair of first and second to-be-executed operations to determine a predicted relative cost between the first and second to-be-executed operations. Another embodiment of the method comprises the first step, the second step, an alternative third step, and a fourth step. In the alternative third step, the computing entity applies the predictor to to-be-executed operations in operation pairs to determine a predicted relative cost between first and second operations for each operation pair. In the fourth step, the computing entity employs the operation pairs and the predicted relative costs to sort the to-be-executed operations.
